Ray Daniels quote in Entertainment Weekly

In the entertainment weekly issue with "what lies ahead" on the cover ( about trade center attack) they have a blurb about the entertainment people killed in tragedy. they quote ray daniels as "Van Halen's manager" about the right now video producer who died.

curious. does that mean Daniels IS still attached to the band??
or not??

No, just that he was the manager at that the time Right Now was made and the fact that RD had input in just who would direct and produce the video. Trust me, he's gone.

Gee your right again Glenn, but I'm sure that they just used some old info, you know the latest the band has said. "no news is good news". So at last "official" word is that RD is VH's manager.

just to clear it up for ya until you can take a look at a copy for yourselves
the quote is not an OLD quote. it's about her dying in the plane crash. so it's definitely a recent quote.

my only thinking is perhaps the last info they had for a contact for VH related questions was Ray Daniels. so when they were looking for a quote about her they called the # they had on file. Not knowing he didnt rep Vh anymore.

who knows.....

Not that RD is known for his honesty, and journalism is a vague science at best, but don't you think if Ray was called about this, his first sentence (even before commenting on the death) would be to clarify that he doesn't represent Van Halen anymore?

Unless of course he still does have his "iron in that fire". [img]smilies/scared.gif[/img]

well, didn't mikey say that he doesn't represent the band anymore?
and, didn't eddie say that there was a bunch of legal stuff to worry about the past while?
i think that we just answered our own question.
i'm pretty sure that RD isn't involved with the band anymore, except for maybe a couple documents that need to be cleared up.

Something major is going to finally happen in October. Gary Cherone was hired in October of 1996. At least this is what EVH said in an extensive interview that I taped off of the radio back in October of 1996. I remember him making a comment about, "As soon as the ink is dry on the contracts."

Maybe Ray Danniels and Gary Cherone both signed 5 year contracts that were tied to each other that both expire in October of 2001. Also, didn't Michael Anthony make some comment about Fall of 2001? I have a serious hunch that next month will be Rothtober for Dave and Van Halen.

I suppose October 2001 is as good an irrational hope date as any other. Hell, you could pick a date out of thin air and come closer to when they'll work again than they can, apparently [img]smilies/smile.gif[/img]

Of course, in the honored tradition, I'll warp this speculation into another rediculously poor attempt at justifing my favorite singer coming back:

"October is when they signed the contract with Gary which just also happens to be Sammy's birth month, which makes it clear they obviously never wanted to get rid of him and were sending him a signal" [img]smilies/biggrin.gif[/img]

Ray Danniels is not managing Van Halen. Gary Cherone is not under contract otherwise he wouldn't be able to do Tribe of Judah. And RD was there for Balance, long before Cherone joined - they didn't sign contracts on the same day.

October will come and go without any news. Any legal "problems" are between Dave and Van Halen.
