I think it's a great quote and shows that Eddie is an artist. Hopefully he's been able to find a spark with Dave where the past is acknowledged and respected, but still moves in a forward direction.

Just as circumstances have changed since 1984, they've changed since 1997 so it's possible that Eddie has found common footing with Dave where he feels that he's not cheating either his own creative soul or the fans.

i think he was just being honest, and his honesty was based in the truth of the moment he made those comments.

If he was serious about being interested in just making music, we'd have new material from them in some form by now, with Gary, somebody new, or no singer.

My thoughts exactly Glenn and Van Edge. I'm tired of people bringing up things said in the past. Things change. Yes, a few quotes may still be valid, but most are out the window now (probably). I remember reading an interview with either Ace, Paul, or Gene from Kiss in like 1992. Whoever was interviewed was talking about actually wanting to fight him so he could really hurt the other. Obviously (though more for money) those circumstances changed.

If they are back with Roth what will Eddie say about all of the stuff he's said about him since the 96 fiasco?? He'll have alot of answering to do to everyone, but I don't think he would really care about what people say. There is a felling that I have that Roth will not be back and I may be wrong but just everything that has been said and done by both parties just makes me think that Ed will just keep doing whatever he wants and if that means a new singer then sa be it. I kind of agree with the quote though. I think in a way it would be great to see them back together again but then on the same line it would be a complete mockery of the band in whole, kind of spinal tappish. All we need now is to have them on tour with Dave and have Alex blow up like all the drummers do in the Spinal Tap movies.

I don't think Ed has any explaining to do for anyone. Dave's voice was fucking awful in '96, end of story. They didn't get along at the MTV Music Awards, hence no chance for a reunion. What's to explain?

I'm sure that if Dave is back, all of the above has been discussed and they know the risk of being perceived as Spinal Tap.

If and when they do hit our awareness as a reformation, it will be a reinvented original, the magic of the music and voice will be recognizable, but the presentation will be, must be respectable of the time elapsed and now. I can't wait.

heatmiser, I think Brett was just saying they don't need to explain anything about why there was no reunion in '96 when they come out with one now, because their reasons from then are still valid - inasmuchas Dave's voice was shot in '96 (still may be, we'll have to wait and see how he sounds) and it seems from what Georgie has told us that the whole hip incident did indeed happen.
