Why? WHY? LOL.

First of all, who ELSE could step into VH and give us any hope for something great?

Sammy wouldn't go back to VH because :

1. The bridges burnt with Eddie were pretty bad. Messy, messy, messy...

2. Ray Daniels.

3. I don't think Sammy would have wanted to go back.

Dave's back because :

1. VH woke up and saw the reaction to "3"

2. Dave and Eddie know what time it is.

3. (And this is the most important one, folks... ) It was written in the stars.

As much as DLR and VH have battled over the years there is one thing that'll never change.
It's the fact that through all the bullshit,DLR still bleeds VH.
It's always showed in interviews that DLR still believed in the power and magic that is VH.
He grew up with these guys. They scratched and clawed their way to the top. No one annointed them to anything. They were never the flavor of the month. There was always another band that critics threw their support to.
DLR and VH did it together.
Sammy was great but fact is Sam wasn't part of the original formula that made VH famous.
Sammy was a seasoned professional who kept the ship afloat. But you always got the sense that he really didn't "love" VH.
It was just another job that paid really great that's it. He used the VH gig as a chance to promote his solo material.

But Dave is and always be the heart and soul of VH. And Eddie knows this that's why Dave is back. Because if they're going to recapture their magic again they need Dave to give them a push because Eddie knows that Dave truely does love VH. When DLR was in VH he was their biggest fan.
And if it fails then at least they went down swinging with their best hitter.IMO

Look, Sammy and Dave were both great with Van Halen. I love em both. Both had their monumental influence with Van Halen. To be honest, I prefere Sam in the band over Dave. But, I welcome Dave's return to Van Halen in spite of my liking Sammy more. After all, we are talking about VAn Halen here...

It's virtually impossible to imagine Sammy ever working with VH again, but stranger things have happened on Planet Van Halen. It's all an opinion thing. I loved the Sammy era and Humans Being showed me that they were perhaps headed in a great direction. But fate (what's his name again) decided that that wasn't going to happen. Now the window of opportunity seems wide open for Dave and VH to put I giant stamp of greatness on their career. With Sammys' age, and his extremely rocky (non-existant??) relationship with VH, indications are that the window of opportunity for Sam and VH to get back together is closed, or at the very least nearly closed.

Ask the UFF's if I bash Sammy fans. I don't, because to some degree, I'm a Hagar fan myself. I don't believe he was best for Van Halen. I never did and never will. But I don't bash him nor his fans.
