...that he can go onstage and bash Sammy at these supposed up coming concerts. If I'm at a show and he tries to pull that shit, I'll boo my ass off. And I don't think I'll be the only one either. Those of you who think these shows are going to be filled with 100% Pro-Roth, 100% anti-Hagar fans have another thing coming.
Roth has be gone for 16 years. Don't give me that "Skyscraper", "Filthy Little Mouth", "Slam Dunk" garbage. He's been gone for 16 years, excluding the two weeks he was in the news again with the failed reunion in 1996.
He will have to do Sammy songs. Some of them are way to soft, whatever for him, but far many more are just too good to overlook.
Songs he can perform
1. Why Can't This Be Love
2. Poundcake (sing low Dave, you can't handle these original notes)
3. Finish What Ya Started (song about sex, perfect)
4. Best of Both Worlds
5. Judgement Day
I can't think of many that fit him, but those are a couple.
Once again, he WILL NOT waltz on the stage like he's hot shit and dis Sammy. I don't think Ed will allow it anyway. The least Weave-Roth can do is give a one line "Thank You" for keeping a boat afloat that could have sank in '85.
Dave may want to say something like, "These guys were way too 'Pop' after I left."
Yeah, well last I checked, 'Pop' stood for POPULAR, which is something Van Halen has been, and Roth hasn't for 16 years.
But hey! What about "She's My Machine?"
Oh yeah. Hear it all the time.

Damn!!! Pissed, huh? I agree somewhat. I don't think Dave would even try to say anything bad about Sammy on stage. He's more interested in shit talkin' with tha ladies.Maybe in the tabloids, but not on stage. I don't think he should have to do anymore Sammy songs on stage than Sammy did of his, which wasn't too many there at the end. If I recall, all he did at the Balance tour was Panama and Jump. I may be wrong. I agree though, you can't just blow off 1985-1996. It was just as important as the time before and, yes, very commercially successful. And there are a few Songs Dave can do of Sammy's. BOBW is a good one. Poundcake, Finish WYS, Don't Tell Me, etc, all the lower range Sammy songs. What about some Gary songs? Hahaha just kidding.

This is what Sammy Hagar had to say about Dave doing a tour with Van halen a few years back:
Sammy's plans are unclear at this point, although he admits he
has "about 20 great songs" that he's ready to record should the mood
strike him. But one thing he won't be doing is attending any Van
Halen concerts fronted by David Lee Roth. He promises to send his
"produce guy," though - because "if (Roth) sings one of my songs, he
deserves to get a tomato thrown at him."
Now i dont understand this. Who the hell does Hagar think he is anyway? He thinks he was more than he really was obviously. Sammy sang Dave songs, but he feels intimidated if Dave were to sing his songs? Why does he feel so theatened? Hell, i dont want to hear Dave sing Hagar songs anyway. That could be a true statement, VHWasCoolest. I read that interview a while back and Sammy sounded like a dick when he said that. But Sammy was really bitter back then, and he's calmed down a bit since. But all the rest of you sound like babies screamin' about Roth. VH, for the most part, ignored the Roth years when Sammy was there. Yeah, I know they played 1 or 2 or 3 songs, but that's nothing compared to what that band was. You'd have a better chance of seeing Christ than seeing Dave sing Hagar songs. Besides, VH experimented with singing a lot of classic shit with VH3 and it didn't really work. People ain't gonna come to see a VH with Roth tour to hear "Fire In The Hole" for chrissake. Yeah, maybe they'll end the show with "In N' Out".

Does anyone else get the feeling that this whole VH thing with the singers is a little like pro wrestling? I'm sure if Dave and Sammy ever met they'd have a few drinks and shoot the shit like two soldiers who've been in the same war.

I couldn't help but notice obvious anti-Dave bias in this post. The funny thing is the predictions about what Dave might say or do, are fact with Sammy. Read on...
It was Sammy who took to bashin' dave in concert after he took over the lead singer reigns in 86. I also seem to recall readin' that Ed and Al had to ask him to cool it a bit.
Again, sammy was the guy who vehemently refused to do Roth-era songs for all those years. Personally, I'd rather Dave not sing Sammy songs if his heart wasn't in them. I've heard Sammy sing those 2 or 3 Dave era songs, and anybody can tell ya "his" heart obviously wasn't in them.

Dave's not going to get up there and rip on Sammy or Gary. He already did that on his last tour, and it didn't go over well. So he stopped. Besides, why would he want to spend time talking about Sammy when he's the one back on stage with Van Halen?
As far as the songs go, I really hope they don't play any Sammy songs. Why oh why would they do that? We've all seen Sammy do those songs. Dave can't/won't do them well. So why? Would you really want to hear Dave sing them?
Do what you do well, and leave the rest behind.
As far as Sammy not singing Dave songs, well, he did what he was contractually obligated to do. It's pretty understandable that he really didn't want to do more of them.
Do what you do well, and leave the rest behind.

Well, first of all, Dave has quit bashing Sammy and Dave. His last official statement about VH and their singers was if I ain't in it, I ain't interested. Second of all, Sammy HATED doing Dave's material live, he didn't have a problem doing YRGM because its the Kinks tune not Dave's. Yeah he does his little add libs in stuff like the bridge of ATBL, but so does Dave. Sammy, while hating covering Dave stuff, had no problem covering The Who, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, and Neil Young, not to mention himself from both his solo career and Montrose. Third, Gary did whatever the hell they told him. So yeah they did a lot of classic Halen and Van Hagar. Fourth, people quit whining about Roth's 99 tour being 99 percent classic VH. I was listening to my boots from th EEAS tour and most of them are VH tracks. Hell, Steve Vai even tears thru the end of Eruption in his solo. Nobody was bitching back in 86-87.
Most importantly, who gives a shit if he does or doesn't. I think you're more likely to see him do something like Summer Nights and BOBW, then anything else. Although, doing Finish What You Started is likely as well. I hadn't heard em do Black And Blue since 91, and its pure sex too, so it might work. Like I said though, I don't care. There's plenty of stuff in Roth's catalog as a member of VH and solo artist to fill the blanks. Ed is buds with Becker, so I think you'd be more likley to hear Ed coverin' Becker. Maybe Tell The Truth or Last Call. Hammerhead Shark would be cool!
