What is your best memory about VH? It doesn't necessarily have to be a live show that you may have seen, although that's the intent. It could be anything, FROM BOTH ERAS, & if you feel the need, the "Gary" year!!! How 'bout it?

Hey man, great topic My best memory of VH was meeting Ed in front of his house (been posted a couple of times) by far. Other than that its hard to say because I have never been to a VH concert or any concert for that matter, I just don't like being around tons of people

Lets see, TKO, Sammy Hagar, Nazareth... then Van Halen came bustin out like a bat outta hell, VHII tour, and 80,000 there were either yelling or awestruck or both as they kicked off with "Light Up The Sky". Eddie and Mike were running in circles around Dave as he galloped around on a stick pony wearing chaps and a 100 gallon cowboy hat. Corny? Hell yeah - Fun? Hell yeah - Rockin? You betcher ass! They proceeded to blast out 45 minutes or so of nonstop kick ass hard rock. Eddie played Eruption and went right into Spanish Fly with the distortion still fired up. Just pure energy, speed, emotion and adrenaline from all of them, ok, maybe a little whisky and coke. I saw them again on several tours through the years and singers and nothing ever came close to that gig. I sure miss the hell out of 'that' Van Halen.

Must of been awesome man...Mine is 1984 in Hollywood, Fla.--INCREDIBLE; But I must say, and maybe it's b/c I was in the 3rd row was Miami '95. I love Sammy, but his voice gave out and the band just went off for about 30 min. into/after Aftershock. I'll never forget it, but then again, I'll never forget any of my VH memories!

Despite the shows I've been to, I think my greatest VH memory is just being turned on to them. I can still remember the first time I ever heard any of their tunes like it was yesterday, and it affected me so much that I still think about how awesome it was to this day.

I was a late VH bloomer... My best VH memory is sitting up in Big Bear watching MTV and drinking Mascal Tequilla with some friends (you know, the one with the worm)... The Jump video was premering and when I saw Dave I was like...GOOD GOD!!! Then they showed sweet lil Eddie all smiles and knodding his head to the beat and I was like...HOLY COW!!! I didnt know who I liked better SEXY DAVE or SWEET ED... I was imediatly interested in Van Halen and I had alot of music to catch up on... After that, I wanted to be every girl in every song that Van Halen had written...
VHWalkathon - Project 316

EVH: The music is first and foremost. That's the way it's always been and that's the way it will always be. Because without the music, what is there? Nothing. There's nothing without the music. You can't even cop an attitude without the music (laughs).

Easy for me, being wide-eyed and 13 when I went to the Forum in Inglewood for my first concert ever...and being Van Halen, you can only imagine...I had no idea what to expect. Hard to remember back that far, but it was quite an experience for basically a little kid. To me, VH was bigger than life then. Great time.

1. Meeting the guys on the "Balance" Tour.

2. 3rd row, Pit Seats for RHRN Tour.

3. First time I heard "Don't Tell Me".

I had worked the overnight shift at a local rock station. I had been told that the "new single" would be at the station later that day. I had planned on getting up early to go back to the station to hear the tune as soon as the Fed Ex man came.

While on the way home, I turned to DC101 out of Washington D.C...........and inbetween the static I heard the DJ say........"and here's the latest from Van Halen......."

I pulled over in a place where the static as almost gone........but the static was so bad.....I thought the opening riff was a piano through a Marshall.......

Then I thought the solo was way too short......of course........they were playing the "radio edit"

Oh those were the days........when new VH was on the way....
Actually I think most of us are Dave, Sam, and Mike fans. There's just a small group of people who have strange allegiances and like to get into petty pissing contests that I can't believe everyone on this site isn't bored of. - Brett

Mine was the VH3 tour in 1998 - (I live in Australia so we didn't get to see them live before then). My friend & I had been to the Sydney show, and then went up to Newcastle for the next day. We drove out to the venue during the day, and the back security /load in doors were open, so we just walked in, and sure enough, the guys were jamming while setting up! We stood and watched for about 60secs before a massive security guard saw us and we had to leave. The show was excellent that night. Cherone is not the perfect fit for VH, but the band sounded awesome, and everybody I spoke to after the show said he was great. I also saw Sammy that year, and he was great also.

Both in May 2001 and May 2002:
Mike's two Cinco de Mayo parties at Peppers Restaurant in Arcadia.
And, talking with Eddie at the LAPD Celebrity golf tournaments.

October 3, 1998: Getting a voice mail message from Scotty Ross (VH's tour manager) telling me that he was leaving four Meet 'N' Greet passes for me at the Will Call counter at the Hard Rock in Las Vegas. Meeting the band. Then, after the show, playing blackjack at the same table with Eddie Van Halen in the Hard Rock Casino; pictures and autographs.

January 1986: Meeting Michael Anthony in the lobby of Mann's Theatre in Monrovia, CA.

July 5, 1986: Front row at the Forum in Inglewood.

Some cool posts on this thread so far

2 easy ones for me,

#1. Seeing the "JUMP" video for the first time

#2. Sitting in my bedroom at age 11 listening to Van Halen 1 and just being taken over with such awe at how amazing this band truly was.
