I've been away for awhile and I just finished reading the post left by Brett.

If the VH brothers do not want to talk to their fans, why should we talk to them. I think that closing this site would speak volumes to the VH Bros as to how fed up the fans are with their lack of action.

What do you think....I vote to close this site.

Which do you think would get the brothers attention... another brother bashing thread OR the closing of the site which shows a complete loss of interest from their few remaining fans.....

Stang, I don't know about the rest of the peeps here, but I don't view my involvement as a conversation with the VH bros., and I doubt too many people are any different. It's a place to mingle with other peeps that are brought together by VH, and in the process, find common ground to discuss other things.

Closing this site would just be giving in to the people that don't like it here,and they are not worth it. That's not fair to those that do like it, and they outnumber the others exponentially. If peeps don't like it here, or the way things are run, nobody is forcing them to stay. And if the existence of this board despite that causes them so much worry, then they have severe issues that they need to deal with themselves. Seriously.

Just because a few people get frustrated and claim they have lost all interest in the band doesn't speak for everybody. I don't like the Sam vs. Dave threads anymore than anyone else, but closing the site would achieve nothing - it would just be like pouting and stamping our feet. Like THAT would get respect out of the band. If we want the band to respect us and give us what we want, they are more likely to do so if we give respect to their plans and timing.

I know it's all frustrating dude, just hang in there. And if the content on the site makes you enjoy it less, just step away for a bit and come back when you feel like it.

I honestly don't think it would make any bit of difference if you closed this site or all of the VH related sites. Van Halen could care less. They are gonna do what they are gonna do when they are ready. The fans don't seem to have one bit of influence on the band. If they did, VH would have done something a while ago or at least have said more than they have in the past few years which is absolutely nothing. I feel your pain though TPStang.

Guys, if you don't like it here then don't come here, its that simple. Just because you are frustrated with VH's lack of activity doesn't meant the rest of us should suffer, should we?

There are many other facets of this site that keep us all coming back here every day that are fun and good reading. The Dave vs. Sammy thing will never go away so accept or don't read those threads.

I encourage you to take a look around at all the different sections of this site including the many different forums to read through that have other topics than just VH.

I am glad to see there are so many fans sticking around and that I have made many friends here. There is nothing threatening about your post TPStang, its just narrow minded.

Hell, since Brett's letter to us, I don't even know if an opinion of mine would get me the boot or whatever, so I have kind of stayed at a distance to protect my status here. As far as VH goes, they, I guess, have their reasons for the silence. Everybody hates it, but it is a fact of life. I remember complaining at the Pleasure Dome about their lack of info going out to the fans. BRAD would spew that stuff about having patience and that they would be coming back soon or something.

who cares what ed and al think...i mean really? c'mon.

this site has thrived on its users for years now, not really anything van halen has done recently, as they have done nothing.

the people who run this site put a lot of work into it and there's some great people on this board. i personally have had the pleasure to meet some of the people on this board, both posters and behind the scenes people and they are all standup, good people.

sitting on our asses and closing this site would be feeling sorry for ourselves and would take away from the cammaraderie of this place.

if and when van halen ever comes out and says, yeah folks, we're done, then i can see shutting this place down, it would make sense.

however until then, there's way too much fun going on here with our own little community.

we all get annoyed or frustrated with the band form time to time and it's understandable.

van halen had brad shut down their own official site, do you really think they could give a good hoot if this place bit the dust? exactly. this place is gonna be around just a bit longer. we ain't heard the last of van halen yet.

and we most certainly haven't seen the final posts of vhforums.

TP - the band could care less about the internet and what 200 or so fans on the web think.

Perhaps just taking a break from all things VH would be a good idea for a lot of people.

I think I clearly see your point. It's not that you dont like the site or whatever, but more that you would like to send a little slap in the face to fan halen saying that "hey, your most hardcore fanbase just gave up on your punk asses, you suck and I'm not going to give a shit about you from now on... Bitchasses." Am I right?

Personally, I REALLY feel STRONGLY that they wouldn't give two shits from a bug about that message, if sent.

I'm with Wolfman 110% on this. I think this site is great, because it gives us the chance for us to share our common love for the music of VH. And with the band being on hiatus, I think it can, in some ways, be therapeutic for us fans.

Another thing. I think it's foolish and bordering on childish when someone suggests that EVH or anyone else affiliated with the band "doesn't care about us fans." OF COURSE they care about their fans. We all care about how others perceive us, and these guys are no different. Obviously, these guys are not dragging their feet to piss off their fanbase, so why don't we just relax a bit and realize that the future of VH does not rest in our hands. Just a thought.

uh, they don't care. how have they proven they do? they haven't uttered jack squat to us really. they closed down the dome. ed went copyright happy and shut down a ton of folks including rol. no one has seen or heard from alex. mikey tells us one thing and somehting totally different happens. i mean since their last show in japan on the III tour, what has van halen really done to show their appreciation for all the fans that have stuck with them through so much shit?

I'm jaded. I truely think that vh fans are more of a bother to van halen these days than any kind of blessing. I'm with you. If they truly had fans in their psychy, they would have said more in six years. I am willing to bet that their mindset is this: "Hey fuck em'. When we get back out, they will forget all about the wait anyways".
