Just got back from seeing Sammy in Portland Maine on Sunday. All I have to say is that the man definately knows how to rock! If anyone out there thinks that he can't sing anymore, then you are definately smoking something. He played almost two hours and sang his ass off....in key! The band was tight, and looked very good and was very energetic. I was very close to the stage so I saw a lot. Unfortunately I am only 5'6", so I also missed some stuff too. The coolest thing was when he made reference to the Monsters of Rock tour that came to Oxford ME. He apologized for all of those fans that stood in the rain that day. I was at that show! The stage was wet and when Sammy came out, he was running and he slipped and fell right on his ass! Anyway I would recomend seeing Sammy. He does not do much VH, but he also does not really link himself to VH that much. It is good to see that he can continue on and be happy doing his thing. Thats a good thing considering now I can still anxiously await for new VH with Roth. Hey It's all love right? I say you go Sammy. I also say c'mon VH, Sammy's got three albums and three tours under him. That sounds like pretty good work ethnic to me. Bring on the VH for crying out loud! Peace out?!

I hear ya, the more i listen to the halens say its the singers the more they sound like control freaks! that ultrasound just makes them look bad. your right, it does sound like they are wrong and sammy has good work ethics. i think halen wants to do shit when they say or dont say. just like roth he wanted to make another album and they didnt at the time, these guys like to call the shots and they are paying for it now. big egos in the brothers camp. dave and sammy have egos but i dont think they let that stand in the way of the work they do.

Glen, the place was not that big. It was like an old vaudville theater. I think there was about 2000 people or so. A far cry from the VH days, but still a very rocking place though. The guy next to me had a Maine licence plate that read "Vitamin-T". It was already signed by Sammy, and he made his way up front and got it signed again. Pretty cool. Sammy is very nice to his fans. My ears are still ringing though. It was pretty damn loud! I aplogize if I don't respond sooner, but I am not on my computer very often.

I'm going to the New Orleans show this Sunday at The House of Blues. That place only seats about 1,000. I called today and they said they had only sold about half the seats! My God, 500 seats! I hope there's a late push and they pack the place. It would make feel kinds of stupid being there and no one else would be.

Hey man, what was the setlist? Did he open with 10-13? Was "Give to Live" played?
If you don't mind, post what you remember. I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

hey hampshire, I WAS THERE TOO!!! I was right up front, you must've been on the right of me because thats where the gut with the licence plate was. I was right in the middle beside the guy who got the wabo glass. What a great fucking time. This was the most fun I've ever had at a concert, bar none (I've been to alot of shows by many big acts) The best thing is that I got Sammy's set list!!! Victor gave me a pick but some jerk grabbed it from me. I can't stress enough to people to GO SEE SAMMY if you get the chance. Hey Glenn, I drove all the way down from New Brunswick (5.5 hours) to get there. We went out to a mexican bar afterwards and had Waboritas with Cabo Wabo tequila and everything. I'm back home and my ears are still ringing a bit. Sammy had the most fun of all.

Here is the setlist if anyones interested.
(they changed it a bit and didn't play some of them but I'll indicate that. I'll repeat, this is the setlist but not all of these were played.

    1.intro
    2. 10/13
    3. Shaka doobie
    4. 3 lock box
    5. red
    6. one way to rock
    7. serious ju ju
    8. top of the world (i fucking freaked)
    9. space station #9 (i don't think they played this, but they DID play Rock Candy. here i think)
    10. high and dry
    11. deeper kind of love
    12. little bit more
    13. both sides now (acoustic)
    14. red voodoo (they did not play this)
    15. eagles fly (acoustic)
    16. finish what you started
    17. give to live (did not play this)
    18. little white lie
    19. Mas Tequila
    20. why can't this be love
    21. heavy metal (everyone freaked)
    22. let sally drive
    23. _55

    encore
    24. Marching to Mars
    25. 3 in the middle (did mot play)
    26. tropic of capricorn (did not play)

somewhere in there they threw in Cabo Wabo, i forget where but they did. They did some others that I missed that weren't on there but I forget, sorry Sammy's voice was never better and he looked healthy.
I'm saving up to go to Cabo on 10/13, I HAVE TO GO.
That being said, BRING ON VH already!!!

Excuse my poor manners. I didn't mean "Hey Man", I meant Van Hampshire.

So when I saw you say you drove there from New Brunswick in 5.5 hours, I was a little confused. That'd be one hell of a car. Obviously I have to work on my reading skills.

Cool stuff Sinner's Swing. It's of no relevance, but I was born in New Brunswick.

During rock candy, some audience members from the on stage seating gave Sammy some hard candy and he was licking it during the song. Cabo Wabo was actually the last song I belive, but it was a totally different version though. Kinda like a drum beat with spoken lyrics. The audience did most of the singing. One strange thing though was seeing this old lady there. She must have been about sixty and looked it. She had a tour book and was ripping the pages out to get them signed. When she handed out the pages to the audience to be sent up front, she never got them back! Too weird.

yeah, a girl right in front of me got a piece of it after he licked it. she just kept waving it around. Sammy was hilarious trying to open it though. "how the fuck do you get into this thing."

    Glenn where in NB?
