I made a phone call to the club Dave's going to be playing at. Here's the scoop:
Bands: Blue Oyster Cult, Firehouse, Jackyl, Great White, Warrant, Cinderella, and DLR.
Dave is the headliner, and will play for an hour and a half. He's been contracted to play mostly Van Halen tunes, with a few solo tunes thrown in. The setlist wasn't yet available, and the guy I talked to had no info on the backing band.
It'll be an outdoor, all-day festival. 10,000 capacity, with tickets for $35 available at the club now. They may contract ticket sales with ticketmaster, but that hasn't been decided yet.
June 23rd, The Rock, Maplewood Minnesota. 651-770-7822. www.therocknightclub.net has some of the info, but hasn't been updated yet.
Who's all going?

That's an interesting concept - never heard of an artist being "contracted" to play a specific setlist! If you like what you see here, please click here to donate!

I know. I asked if they knew what he'd be playing, and the guy said the contract was for mostly VH stuff, with a small amount of solo material. I'd guess it'll be pretty much the same as what was played in the clubs on the '99 tour.
I asked if they had a setlist available, but he said that hasn't been finalized yet and they should have it next week. Surprising, eh?

Dave being contracted to play primarily VH tunes is a bad sign that he's totally viewed as an 80's artist, a nostaliga act, a thing of the past.
Whether he's still going to wind up in VH or not, I find it sad to see Dave playing a setlist that almost fully relies on material that is 16+ years old.
And I don't buy any theory about trying to prove to VH that he can still sing being the reason for his desire to play a heavily VH set list. I doubt it's that important to VH that he can sing specific songs, just that he can sing period.

I also wish that Dave would play mostly solo songs, he has tons of great songs from his solo career.
Right Now you're reading my post!
I can't stand rap....people who can't sing do rap....you can sing rebellion as well as talk it....Hitler would have been in a rap band...

This looks like an 80s nostalgia show if you ask me....nonetheless, I'd pay money to go see this.....

I knew the feeling. I lived here for years, moved away for 4, and have been back in MN few almost 2 now. I can't remember a damn thing about the various suburbs!
I'm gonna head on up to Maplewood after work tomorrow, and pick up a couple of tickets. I'll let y'all know if I find anything else out.
What I really want to know is if there'll be a Club Dave.

I don't agree with the decision to get rid of the carbon tax. I like those rebate checks that we get. But Carney said it was unpopular with the Canadian people, so he has to listen to what Canadian...
