This may have been mentioned already, but I'm watching some show on VH-1 where I think rock stars redecorate peoples' houses. Its called Rock the House, so check local listings.
Maybe next Sammy will teach us how to make your dog fetch a frisbee on Animal Planet or how to plant vegatables on the Home and Gardening channel.Leave everything to me!-Powdered Toast Man

Actually, I mentioned this a week or so ago as I was venting about the non-status of the band and it's members. My comments were thinly veiled with contempt for Sam for doing such something so "low" as this...
...and then I saw the show.
180 here gang.
BIG KUDOS to Sam for NEVER forgetting who his fans are! You should have seen the guy's face when he came in and saw what his wife & Sam had done to his living room. Then you should have seen him when Sam came out from around the corner!!! Utter shock but elation on this guy's face!
Sure, Sam may have been taking part in the most recent slags on VH, the brothers and Dave in his most recent interviews...maybe that made a lot of us mad, myself included.
But you know what? You'll NEVER see David Lee Roth or Eddie Van Halen "lowering" themselves to actually rub elbows with their fans like this. Dave's too good for this, remember? He's all holed up in his tour bus, drinking beer with models half his age and partying with people paid to tell him how great he is.
Ed is locked up somewhere in a place that many of us don't care about anymore. I wonder how many of us are even going to bother to look up when he decides we're good enough as fans to finally respond to our questions and let us know if we can EVER expect to hear anything from him or the band ever again.
OK, so Sam may have an agenda (ie: sell more tequilla or promote his new CD) by doing this home repair show.
WHO CARES?
At least he still wants to be out in the public doing SOMETHING productive. Sure, he's on a show that's featuring Tommy Lee next week but if you think about it, the same applies for Mr. Lee. Motley is dead in the water, TL wants NO part of Vince Neil, his most recent solo outing has been frustrating as anything to say the least and his family life is just slightly different than ours.So why not do this?
One good thing about guys like Sam & Tommy...they've been to the top and now they're back down on the ground floor. A little taste of reality goes a long way for some people and it looks to me like Sam & Tommy have decided to make the best of it.
For that, I won't find fault with anyone.
I'll admit I was wrong to say those kind of things before about Sam. You can't really argue with a guy who performs nowadays just to please the fans and not worrry about the bottom line (no pun intended)."Once the final BAN has been completed I will ban myself." -OLO, March 21, 2002

Very well put Cabo,
It's almost like....you're a prick if you're in the spotlight and promoting..
.....and you're a prick if you lock yourself in a room and try not relate to fans.
I guess we're all sick of Tiger Woods and Micahel Jordan.
If DLR was asked to do this, and he agreed, I am sure most DLR fans would put a spin on this. TRUST ME ON THIS......if DLR could have anymore commerical appeal.....he would......but he doesn't.
There are a few reasons why DLR isn't asked to be on shows like this.
A. he doesn't have an agent pushing him
B. DLR is an "artist" and would never "sell out" and do a show like this.
C. DLR may persue "things" like this, but producers of shows have a feeling DLR isn't cut out for the show.
To criticize Sam for being on a show like this means 2 things:
1. You're not a fan of self promtion and you would rather see Sam fade from the public view so he could spend more time creating masterpieces like "Not 4 Sale"
2. You fuckin' hate Sam. You've hated the fat fuck ever since.......well since he took over for DLR.Actually I think most of us are Dave, Sam, and Mike fans. There's just a small group of people who have strange allegiances and like to get into petty pissing contests that I can't believe everyone on this site isn't bored of. - Brett

The rest of us, including those who prefer Dave like shit like that. It restores faith that not every rock star is in it for themselves.
I would bet that if Dave did that for you, you would be singing a different tune.
Lighten' up a little man.

The show was a result of a contest on VH1, looking for the "ultimate" Sammy fan.
The winner would have Sammy come over and install a mini-cabo wabo in their house.

I thought it was a great thing to do for a fan. I would not have wanted it as my living room but it would be great for a bar in the basement. The guy who received this was very happy. Any Sam fan would love it. The Cabo bottles made into stringing lights were very cool.

Hey, I watched the show and thought it was cool. I think Sammy is a cooler, nicer guy (than David)even though I like the David version of Van Halen a little better.
It just seemed like a weird idea for a show. It seemed like a show for the Home and Gardening channel that's all. They have that show called Trading Spaces, so it seemed strange for me that it was on VH-1 and Sammy was doing it. I liked the show and Sammy was fine.
That guy totally flipped out when Sammy walked in.Leave everything to me!-Powdered Toast Man

Achievements:
Fuck. If I hear him plug Cabo Wabo Tequilla one more time I'm going to barf up a gall bladder. Cool thing to do for a fan indeed, but damn, let the fucking tequilla speak for itself for a while Sambo. It's good tequilla. Fine. The tour(s), the shows, cabo this, wabo that. He's gonna burn it out by branding rather than let it grow into a subtle, fine and upstanding reputation with other fine tequillas. Remember Peter Frampton, swatch watches, and multi color lines of levi's (Joe Dirt).

Motley Crue to End Career With Ozzfest 2003? Posted Thursday, September 19, 2002 9:52 AM CDT by shaun
Motley's farewell tour could be with Ozzy in '03 according to antiGUY in an article from antiMUSIC.com.]
They quote an Ozzfest Tour diary entry from Neurotica’s Kelly Shaefer. Kelly reports he bumped into Nikki and Donna at the LA show where they where watching Tommy play. He says they talked about how Nikki and Tommy thought it would be "cool to do it one more time" referring to touring one last time together. Kelly also reported that Nikki told him that it would be cool if they could "do it at Ozzfest next year."

A very cool premise for a TV show for sure. Hell, it was even cool to see the guy so freaked-out happy that his rock & roll idol redecorated his living room. When he met Sam after he walked in I even said to my wife, "that's pretty cool. Good for that dude."
It came as no surprise, however, that the room was going to have a Cabo theme (& they did a great job with the room, mind you. But fuck....Award winning Tequilia this & gold label that.....if the shit's so good (& I've tasted it & it does rank up there with the Patrons, etc.) why do you have to hawk it so damned bad?!? Let it sell itself for the love of God.
And if he really wanted to make his booze for the fans, it wouldn't cost $50 plus bucks a bottle.Q: Recording the album took so long your Australian tour last year was cancelled. What was it like in the studio? There's a history of tension between you and Eddie Van Halen...
DLR: It was like a stand off in a Chuck Norris movie. We each had the laser dot on everybody's forehead waiting for the other guy to blink. Except for Wolfie, he had a Super Soaker ...
