I know Im not the only one that noticed that Sam & Dave will be free on Aug. 29th and will be in New York. [img]smile.gif[/img]

MTV AWARDS this year...Aug. 29, 2002. NYC.

So, what do you think, will THEY turn down MTV this year like VH has the past few years?

I say one of them or both close the show...

Sadly, if Dave and Sammy were to show up and present an award, most of the viewers would have no clue who they are...

If one of them show up with the band (ain't going to happen) many viewers will have at least heard the name Van Halen. However, ask people to pick the band out of a police line-up and they wouldn't be able to do it.

On a positive note, most of the musicians know who Dave, Sammy, and Van Halen are.

I'd say the chances of Sam & Dave presenting on MTV is slight....
the thing is, in past, MTV loves to have a big surprise up their sleeves....

pee wee herman after his arrest...
michael jackson & lisa Marie..
and of course Ed, Al, Mike & Dave...

Sam & Dave have been on the road now for the better part of the summer. there's no real surprise there anymore. that's why i'm not sure MTV would really be that big on having them present (performing is totally out of the question, the MTV audience could care less to see either of them perform). Had this tour not happened and Dave & Sam just approached MTV about presenting, then MTV would probably bite - cause it'd be a surprise....

so tune in, but don't count on much - except for maybe a joke about them touring together...

you know...it's not too early to start speculating about next year's Grammy show...

don't we go through this every year? hasn't anyone learned anything yet? THEY WON'T BE THERE. now, we wait for the inevitable "they let us down!" threads immediately after the show...

I think they've gone to that well once too many times with the Grammy's and everything. No one is going to take it serious unless there's an album and something concrete to go with it and if I were them, I'd just get together and launch it like in the old days and fuck MTV and that whole generation. They've done nothing except ruin music and the medium anyway. Who needs em!
