Does anyone remember seeing VH on the USA show Night Flight in the early 80's. I have a vague memory of watching a live performance of them on this show. I didn't really know who they were at the time so I might be wrong.
Better use it up before it gets old!

I'm pretty sure that show played the same live footage of Dance the Night Away and Bottoms Up that was on all the other music shows of the time.
Someone else here will know and have a better answer.John 3:16, Can You Dig It?
People, the 6 wings of the Mighty Van Halen will fly again! Can You Dig It?
You gotta give more than you take! Can You Dig it?
And underneath the arch, it turned into a march,
and there He found a spark to set this fucker off!
Set it off, set it off now children, set if off!
We are down the road! I Can Dig It! Can You?

I don't have a tape of it, so don't ask. But yes I remember it. And since I don't have a complete tape of the one that is on the website, I can't say for sure if they are the same.
However, I do remember that the Night Flight Video for "Dance the Night Away" began with Dave addressing the crowd by saying something along the lines of "We're gonna play you our brand new song/single..."
Hope that helps.

The videos for "Dance The Night Away" and "Bottoms Up" are on Kazaa. The quality is pretty good a far as classic VH footage goes. At the begining Dave says "how about Dance The Night Away, yeah, brand new for ya".
Right now, rock n' roll needs a swift kick in the...<br /><br />"Gimme a bottle o' anything... and a glazed donut... to go!"

Those were some great times, the 80's. I'm 36 so I remember being over at my girlfriend's house (at that time)watching
that show. I thought it was called Night Tracks, though I may be wrong due to old age!
I distinctly remember seeing the "live" version of Unchained on that show. It's the one where Ed is wearin white bloomer like pants, candy cane socks, and no shirt. He's not playing his Franky either, he's playing the different white and black guitar with circles and lines. (I believe he ended up giving that axe to Dweezil years later)
God that takes me back! That's when music video shows and stations actually played music videos. Not the diluted, sensationalized, phony "reality" crap they have now.
Where have all the good times gone!

Night Tracks was a different show. Night Flight was on the on USA network. It was about 2 to 3 hours long and they played it back to back all night long. Logo for the show was a computer graphic 3D thing that they used to the point of overkill. It was like they spent a lot of money on it and damn it, they were going to play the hell out of it.
Really it seemed like they only had a handful of shows and they just rotated the 10 or so ad naseum. Of course the show featuring VH seemed to play only once.
It seems like to me that Night Flight came about about a year or so before MTV. The reason I say this is I remember it was a big event to me to watch it, because it was about the only place to see videos at the time. Once MTV hit the air, it lost it's importance. It stayed on the air for a while but like I said, it seemed like reruns after the inital run.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong here, but weren't all those early VH videos taken from "In Concert" or "Don Kirschner's Rock Concert" or "The Midnight Special"? Havn't some of these show been issued commercially?

I remember Night Flights! I lived with a foster family at the time, religious FREAKS ugh, and they banned me from watching it. I would have to sneak around and watch it. Brings back a few good memories. Did you know that it is the beat of the music that is satanic? That is what these people thought. FREAKS.

Wow, the mentiion of Night Flights on USA brings back some old memories. Being 33 years old, I recall watching it on Friday nights. We just got cable and it did by the way run for a while even after MTV began. I also recall seeing "Best of Both Worlds" on it one Friday night. It was the entire song from "Live Without a Net" Having actually owned 5150 at the time and not having seen "Live without a Net", I thought the live version was great. Ah, the memories.

I remember an episode of Night Flight that chronicaled the history (at the time) of Van Halen. A whole episode of VH! They showed just about every video up through OU812. They even showed Sammy Hagar's pre-VH videos before he joined, and David Lee Roth's post-videos after he left. Pretty damn cool episode even though the host between the videos was a bit corny. I wish I had that one on tape.

Anyone remember the channel U68 in NY??
Aside from Uncle Floyd and his crazy puppet, we had our own version of MTV before MTV, called U68. And yes, it was on channel UHF 68.
I remember Udo and Accept doing "Balls to the Wall", and slayer doing "Chemical Warfare", as well as some fun loving Weny O with a chanisaw.
