Everyone-I need help!

I got back to Florida, went to pick up the videos & they're telling me they can't duplicate them b/c the SONGS are Copyrighted!

I told them it was a FREE concert, that the band played music from Zepelin, Mountain & the Stones & they said it does not matter, that the band MUST have gotten permission from the other bands to play their music. Further, even though I FILMED the video (VH said @ the show that they did not care if people filmed), that I could be held liable & prosecuted if I distribute this tape w/o the band's permission.

They claim this is the law & that they cannot do anything about it. There is no way I can duplicate 40+ tapes. I simply don't have the time.

Those of you who sent me tapes (there are a handful), I will duplicate them @ home when I get some time & get them to you. PLEASE be patient, as I am in a new job & busting my ass.

If anyone knows of an alternative, PLEASE HELP!! I FEEL TERRIBLE, but there is nothing I can do about it.

What I'd like to know is this:

How did they find out what was on the tape?

When you dropped it off, did they ask you what were the contents of the tape? And, supposing you b.s.'d them, then that means they viewed the tape prior to recording it. Was there a label on it stating "VH Concert" or something?

Without getting into all the copyright laws, it's no different then if you walked in with a copy of "1984" and asked them to make 20 copys.

Just because you recorded it does not give you the legal right to duplicate it.

This line that they fed you is shit. Any band can play any other bands music WHENEVER they want to in concert.

If they wish to record it to distribute to the public. Then they need permission.

1st, I plan on honoring my committment to you guys, it's just going to take a little longer. I'm getting a 2nd VCR this weekend to start dubbing them myself, when I get some free time.

Right now, I'm working 6 days a week, close to 12 hours a day (PLEASE be patient, thanks ), NEW JOB!

Also, responding to Fanatic, they say the music is the issue & that it ever got out that they duplicated them (the tapes) they could be shut down. For cracks & giggles, the name of the company is:

In response to how they knew it was a VH tape; NO, there was no ID on the tape, the fuckers timed it(that's how they base the cost), & while doing so, they saw that it was a VH show.

I'm just really bummed that this did not work out the way I planned. Again, my apologies to you all.

They didn't have to play it in order to "time it". They could've placed it in the VCR and hit the fast forward button. Once the time ran out the clock would've stopped even though the tape would've kept going.

I'm willing to bet you they've already made copies for themselves, then threw that line of bullshit at you. I was going to make a copy of an Aerosmith show I have at Dean's Photo, but they wanted to charge around $25.

And, in aftershock's defense, I do have a copy of this tape, and I am here to tell everyone right now that this is an EXCELLENT tape. It's taken straight from the source, so when you do get it it's as though you recorded it. I sat there on my couch in total disbelief, amazed at the quality. You will not be disappointed, trust me. At best, it looks as though he was about 5-7 feet from the stage. Clarity: unbelievable. Audio: unbelievable.

If I should ever lose this tape, I will cry my eyes out like a little girl with a scraped knee. Patience, people. Good things come to those who wait. And, the wait will be very much worth it.
