I'd swear that new video that's playing there right now was filmed at the Tweeter Center in MA.. It's got to be, because it is eerily familiar to the way the show went that night. He was wearing the same outfit that he is wearing there and the reason for the good sound quality and not much audience sound is because that night, his show went from it first being really loud, to being just as you see him performing there. The crowd was just dead!, (only for his show though). Look, I love DLR, I think he's great! He closed the show that night and I half to say......That night just wasn't his at ALL!

Sammy just blew his doors right out of the water that night. I'm sure that fans are pretty much the same all over the world, but us up here in N.E., well, We're very demanding of things, EXSPECIALY OUR VAN HALEN! He tried, but he "DIDN'T" deliver that night, and the fans let him know that. There was nothing to his show It was like, the way he came out onto the stage....he acted like he was standing up there in front of this Mega-Band or something I mean, I make no bones about it, the band was very good!, just not "VAN HALEN". He didn't interact with the audience hardly at all, only to do his usual pick a beautiful girl out of the audience and make a few rude comments to her.

Sammy, on the other hand, interacted a hell of a lot more with the crowd, letting us know we were there during his show. Not giving this arregant attitude towards the fans, just being a normal human being(no pun intended). Look, like I said before, I love DLR, I think he's great. But it's REAL hard being an old VH fan and telling your wife how she's in for this "AWESOME" show when she's sees him, then only to have yourself left, just standing there saying..."WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT"

Bottom line.....IT JUST ISN'T THERE ANYMORE FOR HIM WITHOUT VH BEHIND HIM!

As to where VH needs DLR to be on top again, DLR needs VH!

Even with that being said, I don't think Sammy would do a bad job at all either!

Look, I'll probably get shit for this thread. Just please, before you decide to start bashing, give me the benefit of the doubt. I am a seasoned veteran of VH and it bothers me just as bad to have to acknowledge this fact.

Roth was horrible at the Hartford Show to. I herd one Roth bootleg recorded in Peoria, IL. that sounded OK. But Roth closed the show in Hartford only thing he closed it within the first 6 songs. He should have been able to give Sammy a run for the money with the VH catalog he did. But he was so awful he alienated most of the crowd almost immediately. I think it was more fan loyalty and denial for those who said he was great at any show. I don't see how he could have any better stage presence on any of his other shows.

I said the same thing back in 1999 when I saw him open for Bad Company... Well, at least I can drive around town blaring the most recent VH release proudly... Umm, no - I'm not referring to VH3, I'm talking about the Gene Simmons' Demos... <LOL> Those rock!

Paul Rogers is a very low key guy on stage, but man what a voice! He was just as good as he was in the seventies. There is an example of a guy who has taken care of himself and his voice is still in tact. Probably one of the most underated singers of that era. I throughly enjoyed the Bad Company show. Roth was his usual self centered jag-off self on stage.

Got to agree here, Dave wasn't on when I saw the Nashville show. His band, especially Brian Young, was cookin' but Dave just didn't have it. I'm a Van Halen fan, both eras in my opinion rock, but Sammy just put on a much better show and still has his voice. Not to mention the fact that Dave played almost 100% Van Halen tunes with the exception of Yankee Rose. It sorta seemed like a Punks show. Maybe I wouldn't burn on poor old Dave so much if he'd put out some new music and stop relying so heavily on his past.

VH needs a new singer period. it wont be dave for sure unless these guys are looking to make money. sammy well lets just say they have done everything they can do with sammy. I think with dave its different cause its been so long and its a curiosity factor.

so now that leaves the door open for a new singer. except ed and alex really need to be selective and find someone who is more like Dave.....not in the sense of exactly but someone who can stand on their own and have a big personality. thats why they call them the frontman. gary was a singer in the band extreme not a frontman. thats where that mistake was made.

they really need someone different who is gonna make an impact. I think the boys have enough experience to spot that. its just I dont think they want the competition. this is what made the original line up so great!

I kind of agree with you, as much as I like Sammy, his time with VH may be over also. I have been saying right along that a young no-name guy in his early to Mid 20's with a kick-ass voice could really give the band a new start to go on for the future. He can't be a Roth or Hagar clone. I think it would be easier for Eddie to try it again with Hagar though. I've stopped second guessing what direction or any direction VH will go in the future.

As for a young singer... Motley Crue tried it and failed, and Judas Priest tried it and failed... We fans are a fickle bunch, and many of us will compare anyone today to who was in yesterday... Even if it was Dave or Sam.

Just as long as Van Halen gets back to making music I could care less who they get to sing for the band. These guys have nothing left to prove. They've lived the life, toured to millions and sold a shit load of records. If they wanted to go the route of a 4th singer I would have no problem embracing the band. Commercial success isn't the end all and be all for a band. Not every band on the planet can sell a million albums but you still have groups who go out and make music just because they love what they do.
