So here's the deal. Being desperate for some VH news, I'm going to spread some hearsay.
I know the manager at the local peavey dealer here on 48th st. in NYC. he was down at the peavey facility for the better part of a week.
according to some peavey employees, there's an EVH solo album coming out soon. the band is also still apparently trying to draw up some sort of truce with both sam & dave, but the don't really even know if it'll happen.
i'll believe it when i see it...
how do you guys feel about an EVH solo effort? my guess is that if this is true, it'll likely contain a lot of what was recorded for the Gary follow-up and whatever they were working on with DLR. who the heck knows at this point?-VanEdge

Ed could smoke the blues. He needs a solo guitar only album. One that sounds thick, not thin like Vai, or Satriani! No words, Just singin fingers.

I for one would really like an EVH solo album. I know that I'll get the "VH3 was solo" bla bla for it. But I would really like to hear him work with others like Billy Sheehan, Allan Holdsworth, and other singers. It would be really nice if he could throw one of those DLR gems from 2000 on there as well. Anyway, I say thumbs up for a TRUE Edward Van Halen solo album.

Ed solo sounds like a dream come true to me!!! It's time he opened up and cut loose!!!
Hmmm wouldn't it be pleasant surprize to have a winter/spring G3 type of tour with Ed and a couple of other 6 slingers...??Woke up this mornin, got Blue Moon in your eyes...

ROCK ON!!! I'm all for a killer solo effort by Edward. He should have done one years ago. Now is his chance to "Shine" brightly and show everybody what he can really do!

Edward solo?
I'd be the first in line. He should have done a solo album years ago. A few guest musicians would be great as well. I hope this is true!!! "People say Cream gave birth to Heavy Metal," says Baker. "If that's so, we should have had an abortion."

A few weeks ago I posted here that I wanted Ed to do a solo album similar to Vai or Satch. It just seems like the easiest, and smartest move to make right now. It would get Van Halen music out again, avoid having to worry about a singer for the time being, and please the fans.
He used to always say he doesn't need to do a solo album because Van Halen records are solo albums blah blah... yeah, he also said he and Sam are musical soulmates. Oh, and he said that about Cherone too.. Oh, and he said he'd take up Tuba.. Oh, and he said he didn't see the point of "Live" or "Best Of" albums..
I definately see a solo album in the future.

it would be great to hear as a fan, but I can't imagine it being a commercial success.
I would love to see him tackle one style per album, playing with some masters of each form. ie, a jazz trio, blues, progressive, an acoustic album.
He could easily move around a quater of million units each time.

Anybody else wondered why Edward does not take the songs that he, Dave, and Sam, cannot come to agreement with lyrically, and stock pile it and release it as Edward Van Halen solo CDs'? Have Al play Drums and Ed do the bass duties as well. Edward doesn't seem to take much stock into singers and their lyrical contribution anyway, so why doesnt he do this? Any solo effort, with decent promotion would be a gold to platinum seller just on his name alone. He should do this in between Van Halen Band Cd's. Hell, Sam does is solo shit! Why not ED? He should do this instead of recruiting singers to be his puppet all the time.

I think this would be AWESOME! And it's the next logical step for Ed. I don't think we'd need to worry about it sounding like Vai, who does a decent Eddie Van Halen himself or Satriani. My favorite instrumental guitar album is Jeff Beck, Blow by Blow and I'd love to hear Ed put out something like that. He doesn't need a vocalist to communicate and the thought of being able to slip that disc in and crank it up really gets me excited. Whoo-hoo!
Could this be magic?

I'd love to see an Eddie solo album. VH3 is one of my faves; I think it has some of his best playing on it. I think it'd be really interesting to see what different sounds other singers, guitarists, etc. would bring out of him.

I hope its a rockin' album. Not a cd filled with "Respect the Wind" style songs. Leave that for John Tesh.
Maybe then Ed will have his professional slate clean and ready to have VAN HALEN continue on.'Old Van Halen, when I was in it-classic Van Halen-makes you wanna drink, dance and screw, right? And the new Van Halen encourages you to drink milk, drive a Nissan and have a relationship.' - David Lee Roth.
