I recently saw the movie "1900" on the Independent film channel (IFC). Besides being a great movie, as you may know, Edward contributed his skills on the guitar to the closing tune sung by Roger Waters. I had never had the opportunity to see the film before, but I'm glad I did. If you get the chance, check it out. Be sure to follow all the closing credits as you won't hear the song until they are almost complete. I think it's a great song and perfect for the movie, as the final scene is very sad. As I refelected on the movie, I began to realize how much I wish we could hear more of Edward doing these kind of projects. I came to the conclusion that even if Van Halen never releases another album, I'd be happy just hearing Edward doing his own thing. What are your thoughts?

Good to hear about the new track. Haven't seen 1900 myself, but based Ed 's (and Al's?) work on Respect The Wind from the Twister soundtrack, I'd love to hear Ed do more movie stuff - and in more places than just the closing credits!

Is it a good movie?
What the HELL Eddie plays on it.
I'll check it out, thanx dude."I could call it anything, but the only word I can think of is Brown. It's just a warm sound. Warm, big, majestic" - Eddie Van Halen on his Tone

I downloaded it on Naster (back in the day). At that time my daughter was a few months old. If she was figitty, I would play the song and she would, lay still and listen. It is a great song, Roger Waters and Ed are terrific together. One of my favorite songs

The song is amazing...
I also would love to see Ed do more stuff like this.
Knowing nothing about the music industry, I would GUESS that those kinds of things are easier to do than a whole album, and maybe that's what Ed needs right now.
All along, I've said I am an Ed music fan, couldn't care less who he's lied to or all that BS, I just like the way he adds awesome new sounds/techniques to music and it just fits.
Can't wait till the next project he works on to come out...

Absolutely amazing song, I love it. Some of Ed's best work IMO

I forgot to include that the movie is actually entitled "The Legend of 1900". Someone asked what the movie is about. Well, it follows the life of a young man born and raised on a luxury liner at the turn of the 20th century, thus the number 1900. Anyway, the young lad turns out to be a piano genius. The movie follows his entire life on this steam ship. Throughout the movie he has many opportunities to actually leave the ship, but never is quite able to do it. Many years pass, including several very entertaining musical scenes. He actually "splits heads" with the famous Jelly Roll from New Orleans ( Great piano duel). If you watch the entire movie, you will understand why the actual song from Waters fits so well. Please check it out

The song in question is called "Lost Boys Calling". It is basically vocals done by Roger Waters and guitar solo's by Edward. The song is ok, but not ground shaking by any means? It is the last track on the soundtrack of "The Legend Of 1900".
Although, I have not seen the movie, it might be actually good? I would not run right out and buy this CD just to get a track done with Eddie on it?

I actually first heard this tune when the movie was first released. A buddy of mine had his son download it for me. When I first heard it, I too felt it was an o.k. song. However, hearing it a few years later within the context of the movie, I was very moved by it. Soulfull is an excellent way to descibe it. I have always been a "sucker" for Roger Water's voice anyway, and combined with Edward's very simplistic yet soulfull guitar work, the song fits very well with the movie. I'm not sure what prompted Edward to collaborate on this project, but after watching the movie, I realized that the main characters personality is in some ways very similar to Edward's. Perhaps seeing a bit of himself in the character of "1900", Edward had an understanding of the pain and internal struggle within him. If you have seen the movie, I think you'll agree.
