Songs that make you think "Damn I miss those times"

I had to go to Emporia for the week to attend Water school and I didn't take any cds with me. I was listening to the radio and the song "My Chevy Van" by Sammy Johns came on.

Man, that almost brought tears to my eyes. For those of you that don't remember, the 70s were GREAT times as were the 80s. They were times that you could do things and not everyone picked every move you made apart. These days everyone is so god damn uptight.

Anyhow, here are two songs that give me goosebumps and make me long for a time long gone :-(

"My Chevy Van" by Sammy Johns and
"Somebody to Love" by the baddest motherfucking lead singer to ever grace this earth of Queen.

    Feel free to share yours!

    "Water school"?

Just about anything from '73 on until '82. Diver Down pretty much reminds me of anything leading up to my graduation, as that was my hot album at the time. Just about anything rock from the summer of 1987, too. And lots of others in between! Sometimes you get stuff that's out of time, too - like I didn't get Emotional Rescue until the mid-eighties, so with the exception of the two singles, that album reminds me more of going to Hampton Beach in the mid-eighties than it does anything from when it was originally released in what, 1980?

Dare we reveal our true ages here by revealing the soundtrack of our lives???
I too was a child of both the 60s, 70s and 80s (for high school). I can think of many, many songs that bring back memories, some good, some not so good.

Whattaya think about the Carpenters???? Howz that for old??
If you ever watched Dazed and Confused (the movie) that about sums it up for me, especially the soundtrack to the movie.

I also tend to listen to DLR's Good Times/Those Were Good Times (title?) song. At the end of a workday my brain is pretty much fried, so don't ask why I can't remember the name of that song, but it's playing in my head as we speak.

The song is called "Damn Good" from the Scyscraper album. Vai commented in an interview that he wrote the music when he was around 15 years old.

'Celebration' by Kool and the Gang always takes me back because my high school band rocked that tune in the 1984 Rose Parade...

Heh, Water school is for Water production certification. Most people are CLUELESS about how difficult it is to filter water and make it. I sure know I was until I started working for the city. I always thought there must be a god delivering water to my tap...Just kidding, but I truly did not know how water was "made"...Anyhow, there are 4 different levels of certification of water production. Each one you must take a wonderful government test and you know how tricky those can be. Each test that I take and pass, I get a .50 cent raise. I took my level 2 test today.

Damn good times is a killer tune and yes I dug the carpenters as well. BeeGees were cool. Knock 3 times on the ceiling if you want me, twice on the pipes if the answer is noooo.........

GREAT SONG! I play it often, it's on my Ipod! "Damn Good" does trigger a lot of memories. Funny Roth has some great solo stuff... too bad you never hear it live.

Hmm well when I played ice hockey growing up in the 80s, over the years I had a mix tape for my walkman that got me psyched before games if I can remember...(Wayne's World haze....)

    Thanks for the tip there!!
Wow he was already writing about all of that at 15???

BTW - Y&T, Night Ranger, Scorps, Priest, and Quiet Riot were the party tunes for me, and VH is a given.
