Yes...unless it's one of these alternative or "mall metal" singers.

    Bottom Line:

Whatever Eddie & Co. does I'll give it a chance. They've earned that without question.

If they released an album of Wolfie reading the yellow pages in the background, I'd buy it. Although I don't think VH1 would play it.

First of all, there's no question that it would fail. There is no band that has succeeded with a 4th singer, and they already failed with the third.

Now that being said, I personally would give it a listen, if a month after Cherone's departure they would have said "Hey we're working with Chris Cornell" (or whomever, other than Cheesy hair band singers), even though it would NOT be Van Halen, and hopefully they would have the good sense to drop the name.

But as it stands now, IF they were to show up with any singer other than Dave, it would be bullshit. Because they know damn well what everyone is thinking after 14 months of silence. I would never listen to ANYTHING they did again if they played that kind of game.

But again, we don't have to worry about that, do we?

    Van HALEN is back!!

Id give it a listen to, but doubt that a 4th singer would work.
Its basicly Dave or the Grave at this point.

No Im sorry to say, because it would only taint the bands reputation that much more, and as great a band vh is I do not think even they can please the fans with another singer. It would really just turn into a joke. I would rather them break up.

Everybody's got great points here. I think much of it comes from when you started listening to the band. Would I give them a chance with a 4th? Hell yes! Why? Because, as my sig says, it's all VH to me. I became a fan at about OU812. I was 13. So while I would see occasional videos with or hear talk of Dave, I was not a part of that magic (Not to say I don't like Dave more BTW). I just want to hear MUSIC from EVH, AVH, and MA. I loved Respect the Wind and that was just the bros. I liked Gary also. Not as much as the other 2, but still liked him. Because of the music.

Now, would the PUBLIC give them a chance? More than likely NO! The media? Definately BIG NO!!

I guess this was supposed to be just a poll question, huh? sorry. Simple answer- I would give them a chance. How could you not?

I'd give it a chance, begrudgingly. Of course I'd be let down, but I'm a fan of VH and that's that. If I bought Cherone, then I'll buy Van Halen fronted by the guy from Stryper.

The media would have nothing to do with VH though. They're already seen as a punchline to a bad joke with the lead singer scandals. If they don't get back with Dave, it's over for them, commercially. Dave or the grave. Especially with all this "no news is good news" and 14 months of silence bullshit.

"We get to the hotel, there's people partyin' in the parking lot, people gettin' down in the elevator, wow! I swear to God I had this one chick, this chick was poundin' on my door, she was kickin' and screamin' at my door 'til about 6.30 this morning. Finally, I just said, 'Fuck it!' and let her out of my room!" - David Lee Roth

I would definitely give it a chance.

But my attention span wouldn't be very long if the singer wasn't somebody I knew was dependable.

In order for it to really work, it would require an already-established singer from some other band, vis-a-vis Rage Against the Machine probably getting singer "B-Real" from Cypress Hill (to use an analogy to a '90s band).

But Eddie is not going to do this again, hence the Mitch Malloy thing. He wants somebody who will do exactly what he wants musically. At least the fact that Gary was actually doing the show setlists (according to Gary in that Boston newspaper article) shows it wasn't all Eddie messing everything up.

So basically...my answer is: it would have to be an established former lead singer and Eddie would have to let him actually do something.

I'd buy it the day it's released, no matter who the singer is.

Obviously I was a Gary supporter. I'd give anyone a chance cuz I trust Eddie's musical genius and intuition. Bring it on, whoever the front man may be. It's been a while now. Let's put on the work boots and kick some ass.

I'm with you Glenn. I'm at the store on the day of release, regardless. VH is my band!!!

I'd give it a listen, but I think that if a #4 came around, the mighty VH would have its wings clipped, never to regrow.
