I just got the new Ozzy DVD Live at the Budokan and at Zakk Wylde's guitar solo, he plays tribute to Jimi Hendrix, by playing the guitar on the back of his head and with his teeth, later he plays a little part of ERUPTION (and believe it or not the reaction of the audience was higher than in any part of the solo) which I think was a good way to honor his heros.
Just though you would like to know this.

WOLFGANG did the IMPOSSIBLE, he brought back VAN HALEN, DEAL WITH IT.

Yeah I noticed that. He did it when I saw him live last March with Ozzy too.
Zakk is definately an Eddie fan. He even put Van Halen in his kids name, along with Rhodes and Hendrix.Right Now you're reading my post!
I can't stand rap....people who can't sing do rap....you can sing rebellion as well as talk it....Hitler would have been in a rap band...

Zakk is one of the few guys, like Dimebag of Pantera, who always mentions VH and pays his respects to VH regardless of trends and whatnot. Just this year Zakk was asked to list the "60 minutes of music that rock his world" for Guitar World magazine. The first song he listed was VH's "I'm the One".. Here is the exact quote Zakk said...
"I'm The One" (Van Halen warner bros. 1978)
"I was sitting in my music room jamming to this the other day and realizing how slammin' Eddie's tone is. You gotta remember, this album came out in 1977, and nobody was playing like this back then. The first time I heard 'Spanish Fly', I was like, How the fuck can somebody play the guitar that good? I just felt it was physically impossible, that it was ridiculous that someone could play that well! Without a doubt, it was mind-blowing - and a major inspiration."

I love that Ozzy DVD. Zakk rips it up, all over the place.
Question: what song is Zakk's solo in, where he plays 'Eruption'. I've only watched the DvD once, and skipped over a couple songs, and I didn't see that solo. I could watch the whole thing through, but I'm too lazy right now

Also, does anybody else think 'No More Tears' is the most badass song ever? I swear, the guitar solo in that is amazing, and made to blow your eardrums out to. Every time I hear it, I just want to crank my stereo to the highest volume.

I love Zakk Wylde. One of the coolest guitarist personalities around and he knows his stuff. When my friends and I saw the Merry Mayhem tour, we stood in the 4th row with our eyes popping out. The guy fuckin' rips! We praised him throughout the show. Eyes were more on him than Ozzy, sadly...lol...and yes, the "No More Tears" solo gives me chills!

yeah the solo in no more tears is tops for me.
i dont think no one has ever created a solo that musical and that appropriate for the song. it's not a solo really, its a musical etude of sorts.
i love hearing that once in a while on a hot sunday afternoon driving down the highway at rather expensive speeds.

Zakk Wylde kicks ass.I read in this one article that Eddie Van Halen was his favorite as a kid, saying 'How the hell can someone play guitar like that?' my thoughts exactly.
Rest in Peace, Ed.

They don't make 'em like Zakk anymore. That man is just a plain brutal mofo. And the great thing is that he keeps putting material out. His stage presence is daunting. He can almost be scary sometimes. He just looks and plays like "Don't f*ck with me fella." Yet, the big bad denim viking can play some of the most beatuful guitar that I've heard. Zakk can shred, jam, and just mellow out with the best of them. It's guys like Zakk that should have bands that sell millions of records (but I'm glad he doesn't as I'm sure he isn't hurting financially and he can do the kind of music he wants to... except when he writes for Ozzy now).
