I going to be in the LA area and was just looking for any place to go to see VH stuff in LA. Best VH fan places-collectibles, guitar shops, the 5150 Studio (not that I think I am going to go inside) Anything Eddie or VH!

I mistakenly went to The Hard Rocke Cafe at Universal Studio / Walkway. There were a few things but not much in the main resturant, really nothing worth seeing. But if you go outside and walk a little way to the Hard Rock store there is one of Ed's guitars on the wall above the counter that he signed. It has some striping but I have never seen any pictures of it. Maybe a guitar he didn't want anyway..?? Wish I would have taken a pic of it. I think it was orangish yellow with light green stripes...?? But that was all there. I assume there is a Hard Rock in L.A. proper that might have a lot more. Didn't go to the museum mentioned that has Alex's drums etc.

I would take a ride down Mullholand to see what that is all about. I'd also start out at Hollywood and Vine, and walk west until it kind of curves into sunset, and walk west for a little while longer. Make sure it is a friday night though. Lot's of stuff to see.

Is it true that on the freeway leading into Pasadena there is a sign that reads "You are now entering Van Halen country"?

And wasnt there a cat named Doug who used to know the brothers and VH back in the day who still lives out there in Pasadena/LA? I believe Doug hooked up The Inside with some of the coolest and rarest VH pics ever! I heard he use to let VH fans come to his pad, with an appointment, and see his super cool VH shrine. I wonder if he is still lives out there and still does that? That would be a guy to see, most definitely.

Dude! I think you would walk into the ocean before Hollywood runs into Sunset. They are paralell to each other!

The Palace and capitol recirds are on Vine just off of Hollywood. But the only other thing there (off the top of my head) is a Scientology building.

If you get over to the Whiskey, The Rainbow, Key Club and the Roxy are within relative walking distance.

Melrose between La Brea and Fairfax is fun if you like rockstar clothes and people watching. Just be aware of where you are when driving around the L.A. area. There are certain places you don't want to end up by accident. (Especially after dark)

The Goldenwest Ballroom is in Norwalk. Now it is a Calvalry Chapel....

P.S. I've never seen any sort of Van Halen sign on the freeway. (Maybe we should petition for one!)

On Melrose street, somewhere between Spaulding and Fairfax, there are blue VH signs directly on the concrete, that have been put there by the VH bros themselves in 1977...

Don't miss it, it's on the North Side of Melrose...

Thanks guys I'll try and check some of that out before night fall. I am staying in Altadena so I am pretty far away from the action but I'll still get down there.

Duff,

If you are staying in Altadena, you are only a few short minutes away from Pepper's in Arcadia!

I would definitely make a trip over there. This is Michael Anthony's favorite Mexican restaurant. He is always there on Cinco de May and if you are lucky, he just may be there on the night that you are there.

Pepper's has some Van Halen memorabilia signed by Michael Anthony on the walls of the bar and the entrance to the restaurant.

If you ask around, you will likely find someone that knows Mikey.

If you need a haircut, his brother Steve Sobolewski cuts hair at a place on First Avenue in Arcadia.

Arcadia is the place where Michael Anthony went to high school, I would recommend this highly over driving around Hollywood.

Let us know how it goes.

I also recall reading about some liquor store, around the Whiskey and Rainbow Bar & Grill, that all the rock stars go to to buy their liquor.
I have seen pics of the place and there are literally hundreds of pictures on the walls of the store's owner posing with just about every major rock star ever!! It's badass... And of course, there are pics of the owner with Eddie VH. What is the damn name of this joint?

Also go to Guitar Center in Hollywood. Some official Ed guitars. One of the coolest things is that they have Alexs drum kit from the Fair Warning tour.
