My wife just came home saying "What's this about Van Halen being over--the radio says the bass player left and he's joining a new group with somebody from Journey".

I don't see any (new) news here about MA or Planet US so I figure the local radio just is just repeating the MA rumor that's been around awhile.

Mr DJ needs to get his ducks in order... Mikey is a key element to Van Halen.
If Eddie were to replace him, that would piss off many of us to no end.

I don't think that Mike will ever leave VH. Why leave something that doesn't exist?

On a slightly off topic line of thought I hope that the Planet Us project gives everyone involved a chance to really cut loose. For example the two guys in Journey who want to rock but can't because, well, they're in Journey and Mike who rarely gets room to do anything bass wise live and especially in the studio.

I think Michael Anthony is vital to the Van Halen sound... The way he "ride" those bass lines, almost "percussively", are unique... He plays the same style through the whole VH catalog... Believe me that if he is replaced, the whole sound will really change...

There's a rumor floating around over on the VH1 message boards that I've left Van Halen and that rumor has picked up some steam, so I thought I should put it to rest before it goes any further.

I haven't met with any lawyers and I haven't quit Van Halen. I'm still the bass player for the baddest rock and roll band on the planet and have always been!

I had a great time out on the road with my buddy Sammy and we've got some
cool ideas planned for our Planet Us side project, but Van Halen is always my number one priority.

On another note, we've got some cool things planned for my website as well, and I'd like to send out a big thank you for all the feedback you've provided since we went online two years ago. Keep it coming! VH fans kick ass!
