Is it me or did Billy interview Ed for GW some time back? Does anyone know where I could find that interview?

Speaking of Billy, you guys need to definitely check out his new band Zwan. 3 fucking guitarists and fat-daddy guitar solos. The drummer fucking rocks hard too. Definitely a classic album. I was shocked.

    Thanks alot man.

I don't think Billy came across as being on the level. I think he came across more as a kid who finally got to interview his hero. Just my opinion.

    Rock on.

But I thought Billy and his people didn't like Rock Stars? His buddy Kurt shot himself because everybody turned him into one and he had NO intentions of being one

I totally disagree. Stardom doesn't kill people. It's pretty common knowledge that Cobain had his share of drug and emotional issues. Also, being a rock star himself, I think Billy understands that you can be a rock star and still be a hell of an artist. Remember, rock stars may put themselves in situations that lead to fame, but they aren't the ones who put themselves up on that pedestal.

First off, Corgan and Cobain were not friends, in fact they hated each other. Secondly, the Pumpkins never came off as being "anti-rock stars", if anything, they were one of the few bands that revelled in their status. "Arrogant fuck"? Like what was said, this was more hero worship. Besides everytime Guitar World had interviews with like the new and old guard of rock, they always have the two compare notes. The same thing happened when Phil Lesh and Trey Anastasio from Phish did an interview together.

A while back, someone said that Billy actually tried out as the new VH singer. Now I've heard Ed and Billy were friends, but I often wondered if it were true?

    Food for thought...

" I know what you're thinking: "Do I want to watch Mard? We know that horses were very strong and could actually stop airplanes from flying away. The ones made out of stone called "statues" -- occasionally came to life and rode off is a colonial cliche. How many more times do we need to hear about how the oppressive Raj's wore villainous black capes, crafted cunning plastic masks to impersonate people, and drained all the blood from their slaves so they could keep the fluid in bottles in their dungeons? I mean, YAWN!

But if you're willing to sit through this dry sort of historical drama one more time -- or even just this dry historical review -- you will not be disappointed. In fact, some of you might just learn something they didn't teach you in school!-

Yeah, Billy and Kurt were not contemporaries. While both were indie by nature, Corgan was a big fan of big rock while Kurt was way into obscure, avante-guard stuff. Corgan was a huge Halen fan growing up though. I read his review for 1984 that he did for his high school newspaper. He loved the DLR-era. I remember when VH came out on the music video awards, they interviewed Billy afterward and he was talking how cool it was to have "the Halen" back to kick everyone's ass into shape. He was just your typical heavy metal kid of the 80's with his jean jacket and flying v guitar trying to learn as much Eddie Van Halen as he could.

The cool thing about the Pumpkins is that Billy is a real guitarist, unlike Kurt Cobain and most all of the other "alternative" artists. Billy knows the fucking instrument. I remember when their first album "Gish" came out, Guitar World had Billy as one of the hot up-and-coming guitarists. He really knows how to tear into a solo. If you haven't, you really should check them out.
