I wonder what Edward thinks about this 'digitally remastered' idea. I seem to remember him going on and on about how much he hates recording in digital as opposed to analog. One example is how he had stated that the tape of III sounded sooo much better than the cd - and he even personnally went down to the manufacturing site to see what the hell was going on. Would WB have to talk to VH to get the ok to do something like this - ot would VH not have any say at all in a decision of this magnitude? Or the recording process something completely different than what they're doing on this project? And can someone out there explain what all is involved when they 'digitally remaster' an album?

    YBSP,

I know if they remaster them like they did with the 24k VH 1, it'll be great. That CD sounds great and it has better levels.

I know when they digitally remaster they pretty much just clean up the MASTER TAPES. They do not go back to the original 24 track tapes and remix each track. All they can basically do is editing, noise compression, EQ, filtering, bring up the levels and basically not too much more.

I know I wouldn 't touch a thing on the Roth era albums, but I would definitely bring the levels up on those. They have no balls compared to a newer CD. Then I would totally remix OU812 from scratch and fix Mikey's bass so it can fit in the mix.

    Out

Thought I read a quick blurb of an interview the other day (linked from a thread out here).

Ed basically said "it is about time"

Yeah, Alex said that given a choice to have WB remaster or to use their own engineer, they chose the latter.
