That the live version of Love Walks In kicks the ass of the studio version. The synthesizer parts sounded better arranged on guitar.

I think the version on 5150 is awesome!!! I don't think I have heard the live version with Eddie playing it on guitar.

Is that Ed playing guitar on Live RHRN? I'll have to check that out. I've seen the LWAN version with Sammy on guitar but I'm not sure about Ed. BTW, I prefer the studio version.

Yeah Eddie plays guitar on that version. But he doesn't play the synth parts using his guitar, he did do that on Won't Get Fooled Again on LRHRN.

I think it is a tape playing the synth parts, and that is why Alex is wearing headphones during songs like When It's Love and Right Now.

I like both versions but I'd have to give the edge to the live one. Anytime you give Eddie the chance to add more guitar to a song, it only improves it.

I haven't heard the live version, but the studio version isn't that bad.

Yankee Rose, the synth parts are sequenced, meaning the synth is programmed to play itself. Alex wears the headphones to hear the click track that gives him the time keeper to play in time with synth. Just a tidbit I learned from playing in bands myself.

Sorry to bring up an old topic...

But I just loooooooooove the studio version! Now, the LWAN version's great too, but I love the synths Eddie uses in the studio version. And thanks, Darkstar, for that info. I never knew that!!

Even though in today's music world Synths are kinda dated sounding, I gotta go with the first version of the song I heard, back in 1986 on 5150: Love Walks In studio, is my choice of the 2!

I prefer the studio version by far.

And for the record, I love synthesizers-they allow you to create an instrument basically from the ground up. 80's or not, I still dig 'em.
