Th future of The Inside

Since I'm usually on here bitching about the Inside Mag I thought I would try to become part of the solution instead of part of the problem.
I got the " merchandise for subscriptions" email when asking about the next issue.This prompted me to ask myself...."Self, if you did a mag about Van Halen with no news for some time and the subscribers are getting pissed, what would you do?"
Self said.." Self, I'd want to know what the readers want."
So heres the deal. If your a subscriber to the Inside,and don't particularly want to see the mag die,email them some ideas.What could it hurt?
Since the mag went back to "un-official" I don't think they have to answer to the band and could continue regardless of band activity.
I suggested an "Al's drumkit issue" and "chicks in bikinis" Anything is better than nothing.Which is what we get from the band,anyway!

I guess it might be a valid idea if enough people do it. But Jeff from the Inside posted here a little while back when a few of us were bitching that they should continue to produce new magazines. He basically just dropped in to say that they were on hold while they waited for the band to make its next move. Again, a few of us stated the feeling that the Inside should be able to mine the bands' past to come up with worthwhile articles, and given that Jeff apparently was aware enough of internet talk to respond to our complaining, he must have read our opinions on this. Which would tell me that he/they aren't of the opinion that they should go forward in spite of the absense of band activity.

As for stories they could do, how about trying to get interviews with Mark Stone, Andy Johns, Ted Templeman, Noel Monk, bands who toured with VH through the years.

you can only rehash history for so long...which was probably a big part of the magazine's decision to back off for a while.

I agree that Jeff should publish an issue featuring interviews with past producers and such, but it's kinda hard to publish any magazine when you have limited to almost NO funds to do so.

Blame it all on Dave and his b.s. lawsuit. He's pretty much beaten Jeff into the ground so that he CAN'T publish anything.

Same here. I was able to get a really nice shirt, the black Henley with the embroidered VH logo, with my refund.

Jeff's a cool guy. It's too bad he's being harassed and forced to do this.

And the reason that Inside hasn't published lately... It's a Van Halen news magazine, and there's no Van Halen news. Maybe it will become the official Dave & Sammy magazine now?

I don't what you were told, FORD, but I was told that Dave's lawsuit is totally "baseless". His attorney in this matter is one of his closest friends, and he's the one that told him it's "baseless" and uselsss to go after Jeff, since he basically has NO money anyway. But, Dave is insistent that he's being cheated out of money, so he told him to chase down Jeff until he has no choice but to shut down everything. None of the merchandise was "unauthorized", only in Dave's eyes was it "unauthorized". If it was unauthorized, then why didn't Ed, Al, Sam, Mike and Gary do something about it earlier. They didn't seem to have any problem with it, either before, during, or after it was the "official" VH magazine.

I know it's a VH magazine, devoted solely to VH news. And, I agree with you that if there is NO news, then it's pointless to carry on. Jeff told me that until anything newsworthy happens, the magazine is in a state of hiatus, which is pretty much what his email to vh@yahoogroups.com stated.

Now, everything I said in the first paragraph is all based on "attorney-gossip". It might be tru, it might not. Who knows. But the person that told me this is someone I've known for about 6 years, and he hasn't lied to me about anything concerning VH thus far.
