Rush pretty much takes the top pickings. For obvious reaons. How many other bands showcase the bass as much?

"Something" is probably his best work, IMHO. Even George thought so.

Also, the bass solo in Nirvana's Been A Son. That kicks some major arse.

It's not exactly riffy but check out Jaco's "Come On, Come Over". Hold your ass cheeks togethor first otherwise they WILL be blown out. A good bass song that can be played by us regular people is Voivod's "We Carry On'. That and Iron Maiden's "The Trooper" are my two favorite song's to play along with.

Check out Tommy Bolin "Poast Tostee" (that may be spelled wrong). That tune covers it all. Really simple distorted bass line whith a wicked quick mid section for Bolin to solo over.

vistadelrey, do you play bass? I doubt it since that is a pretty cool bass tune. A solid melodic feel is the hardest thing for most bass players to master. It wouldn't be in my top 50 bass songs but it certainly doesn't suck.

There's a lot of good songs I've downloaded just for the bass line -

    Heart - Straight On
    Rhythm Nation - S.W.A.T.
Talking Heads - Take Me To The River
Steely Dan - Back Jack (And Do It Again)
Lynyrd Skynyrd - Mad Hatter (Hate the band but Awesome Bass line)
    Eagles - Hotel California
"I didn't just drive a thousand goddamn miles on a motorcycle to watch some little girl prance around on stage" - Steve Morrison on if Justin Bieber performed at Sturgis Motorcycle Rally

-"I'd rather stick my junk into a freshly-slapped hornet's nest." LLFHS on banging Lindsay Lohan

O'Jays "For The Love Of Money". Catchiest fucking bass riff ever. Ya just can't shake that little groove out of your head. Even though I'm not even a big fan of the band or their other material, that groove specifically...
