Was watching Rush in Rio last night.

Couldn't believe how many sick riffs Geddy Lee has, Driven was one that blew me away, but all songs in general have great Bass riffs.

It is hard to believe how many great riffs that Geddy has written. Some of my favorites from Rush are Freewill, Distant Early Warning, and The Big Money.

Other great riffs are N.I.B. by Black Sabbath, No More Tears, Money, Run Like Hell, and a ton from Iron Maiden and Queensryche.
"For the words of the profits, are written on the studio wall, concert hall - echoes with the sounds...of salesmen."

Maybe not particularly technical, but the opening of "Would" by AIC is a classic in my book...(of course I don't play, so someone might rip me a new one and tell me that's not a bass...)

That is probably one of the best music Dvd's l've ever heard/watch, l love it, great band. The best music Dvd l've ever seen is Dream Theater Live in Budokan or Live Scenes from a memory.

"Thug" by ZZ Top has a cool bass solo/riff. From the Eliminator album. Not fast or crazy, but is sounds cool.

Heard Dave Mustaine say the bass line at the begining of "Runnin' with the Devil" was the most annoying bass line of all time.

He did preface that statement by saying "No offense to Van Halen." Also, that the dude playing it repeatedly couldn't do it correctly. Thus the reasoning for the annoyance....

Listen to "Thorazine Shuffle" by Gov't Mule...Preferably any version by Allen Woody. Loud, proud, and in your face, but a cool groove as well.
