sammy album quest...

simply, which is the best sammy-era album?
i think it's not that close- i think it's Balance, hands down.
i've also come to the conclusion that for VH to continue on, and to re-reach it's greatness status-to become current, then edward and sam and alex need to grow up a little, swallow a little pride and get back together.Mike's already there. That's the only way we are going to hear another VH album.
I always loved Dave-era better, it's true VH.
Sammy era stands alone for me now, as a seperate band, and of course, i love it. But dave will never work again, and sam is as strong as ever.

so, i truly believe it's either sammy again, or they are done. I can't see ed going through the mess of another unknown,etc.
just listen to balance again, right now, and tell me what you think as you're enjoying!

Balance has some good songs but I don't think it is their best with Hagar. Humans Beings after Balance was great and Amsterdam/The Seventh Seal/Don't Tell Me (I even like Take Me Back) is as good as any Van Hagar. Balance is a little weak thru the middle tracks for me to call it on of their best w/ Hagar.

My opinion of Sammy era VH Cd's start to finish:

1)5150
2)F.U.C.K.
3)RHRN
4)OU812
5)Balance

I love balance too, but it is not my favorite Van Halen album with Sammy. Here is my order,

1. 5150
2. Balance
3. OU812
4. F.U.C.K.

And I must have been drinking too much, I can't seem to find my "Balance". My sister must have borrowed it!

Well, I think 5150 is their best album with Hagar. However, Balance is their best sounding album, period. I mean, the music surrounds you as you listen to it, and its so powerful sounding without having to turn it up really loud (although I encourage you to crank it!). I'm not too crazy about some of the songs on it, but that album was produced flawlessly. I wish Bruce Fairbarn (R.I.P) had produced their earlier stuff.

sonically, i agree, it is by far, their best produced album--it does surround you, etc.
i m not surprised 5150 is up there, though i havent listened in a while. i better do that.....

Usually I'd say it's either 5150 or Balance, but I threw on OU812 recently and was surprised at how fresh and good it sounded. I wonder if I'll be able decide by the time this gets over to the Albums Forum?!?
