So who's been a fan longer than Brad?

Saw this on the PD tonight from Brad:

"Yeah, the Dave era was, is and always will be my favorite. It's the era I cut my VH teeth on and what made me a fan. I like the other eras too, but for different reasons. They're three different bands.

I've been a diehard fan since 82 or so..."

I remember talking to this young dude at a Led Zeppelin show in the very early 70's. Wouldn't stop yapping at me about power chords and blah blah blah. I said, "listen junior, first off tell your brother to quit hogging all the beer! And fuck those power chords, watch Jimmy when he plays Heartbreaker, in there is the future of guitar playing if you're smart enough to look for it." Three guesses who that youngster was, and the first two don't count.

Fast forward a few years, and me and some buddies are watching Eddie and Alex's latest project jam. Some decent sounds, but totally unfocused. I took Edward aside and said, "dude, I took a poll with my buddies, and guess how many say I think you're singing stinks? I know this rich kid, Roth something or other, I'll hook you guys up. And for fuck's sake, get rid of that Mark Stone idiot. He's solid, but let's face it, he's no Michael Anthony."

Naturally, Eddie didn't know who I was talking about, but I hooked them up with Mikey too. Sadly, after virtually hand-picking the original VH lineup, I was cast aside when David Lee and I got into a heated disagreement about our favorite colors; mine being red. Perhaps Dave could see the future, even then.

Hell, Mom always had VH playing in the house when lil Top was growing up. Not really sure I can place an exact year that I became a die hard though.

Yup, that's right - as soon as I heard VH's first album, the KISS records went on the shelf. It was the sound of the guitars that got me listening to KISS, and then Ed comes along and breaks the news to us that Ace and Paul really weren't that good of players.

I remember being all of 12 years old and going on vacation with the family in 1980. Folks and my sister go into some restaurant, I stay in the car. Broke out the VH songbooks (this was pre-TAB, for you guitarists....) and commenced to sing every song in those books "accapella" (no VH in the car at the time)......

About 45 minutes later, I open my eyes, which were shut tight while I was wailing "Little Dreamer", I believe - just in time to find the family outside the car doors watching me. [img]redface.gif[/img]
