Sammy in the Gutter?

I was quite amused by Sammy Hagars comment concerning lifting Dave out of the gutter. Here it is only a few weeks later and Sammy is appearing on Hollywood Squares and some lame ass VH1 special about redecorating some fans bedroom. Talk about hitting rock bottom. Everyone knows that when your in the gutter and the rains come they wash you down the drain and you end up on Hollywood Squares. LOL. Keep up the good work Sammy. You've convinced at least me that you are nothing more than a disgruntled crybaby who should have packed it in years ago. Dave may have lost some hair but at least he still has his pride!

If you don't like Sam, why are you following his career moves so closely? Who cares if he went on hollywood squares or VH1...at least he's doing something....and that's not a rip on Dave. [img]graemlins/irked.gif[/img]

Sam has said that he went on Hollywood squares because Whoopi Goldberg ( who is the producer, I think ) is a friend and has asked repeately for him to come on.

The decorating show sounds like a silly one off thing that he did because it would be cool for a fan.

I like Sam and Dave, and I think Sam likes to have fun and doesn't care what people think of him. Dave doesn't care what people think either, but he seem to be very reclusive and unwilling to to anything but show up on stage.

1. Whoopi is no longer involved in Hollywood Squares. Henry Winkler (aka: Fonzie) is now the executive producer.

2. Sammy makes these appearances because he is still in the public eye and actually has something to promote.

3. You don't see Dave because quite frankly there is no demand for him.

4. If you think otherwise, then why was Dave on Carson Daly playing songs he wrote over twenty years ago?

No bashing here, just truths.

It Would be nice to go one week without having to say that. Though I have added 'some' because not all of you would beg for the chance to drop to your knees for him.

I think that Sammy just has fun doing that sort of thing you can see it. Nothing wrong with that as far as I am conerned, I also dig checking out Dave interviews and shows when he is up to it. They are both pretty entertaining and I am glad to see them out and about [img]graemlins/thumb.gif[/img]

Sammy is trying so hard to make himself out as another Jimmy Buffett which he quotes quite often I might add. He made a ton of money riding on Roths coat tails and that can't be denied and now he figures he will jump on Buffetts coat tails for awhile. The guy is not original enough to carve his own niche. The guy should be happy with what he has and let it be. Prior to opening his big fat mouth and crying about DLRs dressing room, DLR don't talk to me etc... I actually respected the guy. Not no more - he has shown his true colors.

David Lee Roth doesn't need Hollywood Squares. Dave is a walking promotion for Rock and Roll frontmen. Dave doesn't care what anyone thinks - if you like him fine. If not he could care less.

Nothing wrong with having an influence.
But to say that Sammy rode Dave's coat-tails is moronic to say the least. Sammy had a career before and after Van Halen. (Dave had nothing before, and after a couple albums, not much after)
Sure Sammy used the extra popularity he got from his time in VH to his benefit, but yet he isn't stuck there. He mixes his music in his sets from pre-VH, VH, & post VH and sometimes a cover of a song he really digs. He doesn't play the same songs night in and night out like some Vegas lounge act.
Dave doesn't need Hollywood Squares? I'd bet just about anything that if they called, Dave would be there in a heartbeat. But usually the people that go on there have something to promote. He doesn't, he just promotes the same old Dave schict.
Whether Sammy is cool or not is a matter of personal opinion. Some people think that Tony Bennet is cool, some people think that Barry Manilow is cool, alot of people think that Creed is cool, some thought Gary was cool, some think that Dave is cool (esp. dave). I think that they are all cool in their own right. But I do have my preferences.
I think that you should rewind your VH post Dave memory and you will see that there was some damn good music both with Sammy and Gary, its not just about Dave.

And remember, DAVE QUIT IN 1985!

Well, seeing that he hasn't released an album in four years - DUH!

And it was meant to be a one-song performance, if you watch the end of it, carson daly says they have run out of time, but Dave has still decided he wants to do another song.

AND you could argue why didn't he pick a more popular Halen tune like Jump or Panama? -

Jesus christ this is old and lame. Neither guy lifted the other out of the gutter. Neither guy is posting impressive numbers on his own, TOGETHER they can (and did) pull bigger numbers, and now that it's over Sam is on a friggin game show and Dave is playing to 400 fans in a trailer park in Florida. And there's NOTHING to suggest that either guy is going to have a prayer of sustaining those Sam/Dave tour attendance numbers on their own.

Both guys should shut up about one another because they're both trying to survive in the exact same waters. And us fans should try not to take their idiotic comments and make even stupider ones.
