"I wanna be your Lover" was a #11 song on the Billboard Top 100. It was #1 on the R&B Charts. It was a GOLD Single in 1979. Just for reference, VH's highest charting single of this time period was DTNA at #15 in 1979.

Like I said above, The Stones gave opening slots to MANY up and coming bands on the 81 Tour. This was not unexpected.

Various opener on the Stones 1981 Tour. It was all over the musical map.

Everyone is fully credited on the recent remaster, Taylor on Tops, but since they settled out of court in Ď82 they left his name off of Waiting on a Friend.

And for the record, Prince was never bigger than the Stones. He had a few years where he was wildly popular, but a bigger act than the Stones? Nah, Michael Jackson couldnít even eclipse them.

I saw Etta James open for them in ‘81, she was boo’ed too and the Stones chastised the audience for it.

I remember my friends and I hoping that Van Halen would make a surprise appearance at the 10/9/921 show at the L.A. Coliseum. Wishful thinking.

You should dig deeper into their catalog, especially considering your love for the Allman Bros. You’ll find a common blues connection there.

What is your favorite Stones album? Mine is Let It Bleed, followed by Some Girls and Exile On Main Street.

    Fudd...

Prince was even on American Bandstand in 1980 with Dick Clark. He was out there on National Tv and radio.

On a side note, check out the Guitar solo on the song "Why You Wanna Treat Me So Bad?" from that 79/80 time period.

    Also on Midnight Special

I was at the 10/11/81 show. We had to get off the field during Princes set because so much trash including glass bottles were raining down from all directions towards the stage. It really started by the 2nd song and every time he'd finish a song, it would just get worse. We went up to one of the tunnels to watch the chaotic end of his set. The rest of the evening, we really had to watch our step on the field up front because there was so much broken glass in the grass.
