First, it was "YRGM" and the Barbie/Ken/Nissan ads. Then, it was "Right Now" for Crystal Pepsi. (blech!!) Then, didn't some paint company use "YRGM" again for some paint gun that'd douse your house with a fresh coat in like 10 minutes?
Anyway, flash ahead to last night. I'm watching a portion of the St. Louis Blues game (I think) and some local St. Louis bar ad comes on.
"Hotshots" I think was the place. It had some fat guy "air drumming" the beginning of "Everybody Wants Some" while some hot, busty babes danced all around him. Anyone in STL confirm this one?

Hey guys, I can confirm that for sure. In fact, if you go to the Kiel Center, I have actually seen that guy in the the house acting crazy like that on the JUMBO screen. I was watching the Blues game just last week before my roller hockey match with the guys at the rink where we play, the commercial came on and a few guys commmented on how cool the music and commmercial was.
Being a huge Blues fan, I can also tell you that for the last couple of years at least, before they drop the puck, the Blues play UNCHAINED. Usually right after the Anthem(s), you hear Eddie's riff begin, singaling the start of the game. It's totally awesome !!

Van Halen's music is not only timeless but it can cross over into sports as well. Nothing like 'Unchained' to pump up a crowd!

I haven't seen the commercial but speaking of Unchained, Every time I am in a bar and it comes on everyone gets pumped up and loves it. Also at sporting events people love VH. I just wish we had a new tune for them to play over the PA.

Yep. I haven't been to any Blues games this year, but caught a few of 'em on TV and this is always a cool moment.

i actually liked it better when VH belonged to the small group of musicians who didnt let companies use their music....Van Halen/Dave interviews from my archives:

Van Halen as also been introduced into Nascar. Year was 97 and I was at Talladega for the April race there. After driver intro's, HOT FOR TEACHER began thundering thru the tracks PA system. Well, to say the least, it made goose bumps on my arm. And I got to tell ya, the 200,000 ppl there seem to get off on it also. Lots of smiles and screaming. Next Van Halen/Nascar connection was this year on TV for the opener, Daytona 500 in Feb. Right before the race started, Fox producers and Nascar but together a short film, showing highlights of some of last years racing. Well, the tune they choose to use for the film was Eruption. The music and the film complimented each other to no end! The only let down that day was loosing Dale Earnhardt to a tragic accident in Turn 4.
But, Van Halen's music can and does go with anything. I only wish that it was Kroger's instore Music when I shop.
