How will history record this period in EVH's life?

I don't want to be an alarmist or resort to sensational terms, I'm just wondering what you would call whatever it is Eddie is going through right now.

In several years time will EVH biographies refer to the 'breakdown' he suffered in the late 90s/early 2000s?

Of course, if Eddie ever publicly discusses his life again that may provide the very best answer.

During the "Behind the Music".......when we get to the last 5 years........lots of slo-mo shots of beer cans, whiskey bottles, and coke and mirrors.........wait a second.......hell that could be the first 5 years of the band........of course at least then we had music... To be quite honest I don't this period will be refered to or remembered by anyone except for those of us here everyday.

Really folks in the scope of things, the past five years won't mean much to the VH legacy. They either limped into the sunset with 3 or this hiatus will be a two sentence segue before refering to the next album.

Get off the current media/internet pace of life and information folks. [img]graemlins/brickwall.gif[/img] The situation is not as dyer<sp?> as they are made out to be here by some. Plenty of people here say it and it's good advice. Sign off, unplug and take a break. Things will pan as they will. Our boys a are either long done or just taking a breather

thepoint is that ed, is a legend, and we have to accept this fact. no way to criticize his mind.

everyone of you, how many times played eruption, in front of your friends...and they went "wow, you play faster than ed !! "

how many pete prown's books have you bought, to learn this lick,or that lick..? humm!!!

you have to accept the fact that ed has reinvented the way of the guitar playing...
he is a living legend...

and there are no book on how become a legend

so think about it.the fact is, that you don't have to listen the this man music and start criticizing...
you can do it, yes, but first you have to understand, his musical ideas, and not copying...

but in the end,there's a true question.

who of you can pretend to understand exacly "what edward has in his mind", in a "musical way "

who's able,on this planet, to undestand this...

who'll ever understand... who ever really understood...

have you ever tryed to understand the way edward expresses music, with his songs...

that's it.

you have to understand something that you'll never don't.that's the truth.

you have onlyone choice.to approach to this music.
to listen to this music.

That is a really odd post my friend. But you sound optimistic and that is a good thing.
I hope you are right about some new music. I bought '3' - I dont listen to it very much but it is VH, so I had to have it.
I will buy whatever he puts out.

It shall come to be known to our grandchildren and their grandchildren as the "Ice Age" and to others as the "Howard Hughes" time period of =VH='s history.

Once upon a time, there was the opressing din of disco. This ruckus went on for almost ten years. [img]graemlins/brickwall.gif[/img] Then the Invasion came and the mighty Van Halen laid waste to the disco ducks and over-produced synth sounds that pervaded the airwaves with a raw guitar sound that had not been heard in the land before. In a single Eruption, Van Halen brought rock back to basics while pushing it in a new direction. Prince Edward had claimed the crown!

But alas, the time would come when betrayal and deciet would decend upon the court. Lady Val would appear and wed thy Prince, attempting to change the bad boy "rock star" image to a respectable "musician." While the now King Edward built his castle, Lord Roth struck out into the valley of video with Earl of Vai and once again the land was thrown into chaos.

It was then that a wandering caroler by the name of Hagar the Red joined the court and all was right with the land again. The people rejoiced. Long live Hagar! Down with Roth! But a malais soon took over the land, like a spreading of wings, our love walked on and on and on and there was little of the thunder and more of the melody in Van Halen. A decade passed and then a terrible storm, a regular Twister, hit the castle, bringing with it from the North, the mysterious and manipulative Ray "Rasputen" Daniels. [img]graemlins/devil.gif[/img] Treachory abounded and it wasn't before long that the entire kingdom was in peril. A young poet by the name of Cherone appeased King Edward while Daniels fed him with visions of studio omnipotence while sucking the harmony from Van Halen.

The people cried. [img]graemlins/yell.gif[/img] Bring back Roth! Bring back Hagar! The King was crushed and retreated to his castle. Soon reports of illness spread throughout the land, which the King and his Lady vehemently denied. A strange silence started to build and suddenly, as the new millenium dawned, a terrible cancer had invaded our King. The people wept and prayed, gathered around the castle, but the King would not come out and the silence thickened.

Like cool crisp breeze on a hot, humid day in August. Like the light at the end of the tunnel, the lifting of a tremendous weight, our King announced that he was well. Rock on! [img]graemlins/thumb.gif[/img] But where was Lady Val? Seemingly touched by an angel, she disappeared to the hinterlands, leaving our melancholy King alone in his castle.

There have been reports of him since. They are scattered and unreliable. His appearances out of the castle gates have been few and controversial. Meanwhile the poet Cherone has joined an almost extinct tribe back East while Lord Roth tries to ressurect the holy grail he once held so carelessly in his hands. Hagar the Red has resorted to drunken worship at the false idol Buffet somewhere South of the Border. It is told he maintains a likeness of the King in his quarters to taunt and ridicule. The people waited and prayed, cajoled and begged, but the King shouted, Get a life! And so we did and the King and the people lived a long and happy life.

I hope we don't look back and say Eddie dealt with his problems the way Kurt Cobain did.
With all the pressure........that we can't even fathom......it would be an easy way out.

Now is when we find out what Ed is made of.

Cancer alone can get a person to just give up, let alone a divorce and lawsuits. So what if Eddie didn't speak clear at NAMM....didn't he have a 1/3 of his friggin tounge removed?

And to tell You the truth, I would rather have Eddie alive and hiding away in his house for the next 30 years, than a dead Eddie.......and a bunch of un released stuff coming out. And Sammy and Dave everywhere telling stories to get their careers back on track.

If You have ever been depressed in your life, think back to how You felt. Did You just want to crawl into a corner and sleep? Or hide away until things cooled down?
Or maybe have a drink, to make the pain go away?

I know I have.

And I don't have to wait until visitation times to see My children, or deal with sharks in the music industry, or deal with David Lee Roth and Sammy Hagar.
I also don't have to listen to people call me Eddie Vanheinekin, and make comments about how bad I look when I leave the house.

Maybe Eddie is working on a new album!

I hope he calls it F.U.C.K.E.V.E.R.Y.O.N.E.
