This is my first post, so please don't kill me. I have been listening to the VHIII demo "That's Why I love ya" alot lately on Napster, and I have to admit, it really would have been a great song had Sammy sung it instead of Gary crapping it up. If would go pretty well as a track on Balance. Any one have any thoughts on this?
Thanks.

Welcome to the VHForums doc. I'm going to send this to the Songs/Albums/Video forums.
Twily should have been put on VH3, damn shame it wasn't.Webmaster/Graphic Artist

Each time I hear it, I add "my own" lyrics and phrases that would have sounded so much better. Besides Josephina, I'm not sure I agree with Gary's phrasing of the melody of ANY song.

Hey Neworleansdoc, I live in Baton Rouge. I'll be going to the Hagar/Roth show in Houston, June 16. I also saw Hagar at the "House of Blues" in Nawlins last year on the "10-13" tour. Were you there, and will you be in Houston?

Doucet,
I did not see the Sammy show last year at the House of Blues - I was on call....I'm a Tulane resident. This year, I'll hopefully be SCUBA diving in Saba Island on June 16th, so I'll have to miss the combo show, too.
I've seen VH with Sammy and VH with Gary - never Dave. I am curious to see live what the "hoopla" involves with Dave's live shows.
Anyway, I didn't know about this board until today, so hopefully I'll have lots more posting and lurking to do. It's really neat.

Hey neworleansdoc! I also saw Van Halen in New Orleans for the Balance tour at Lake Front Arena. One of the most uplifting experiences of my life! "Seventh Seal", "Right Now" and "Dreams" were simply incredible live! The place was packed. It rocked!

I've posted my comments on TWILY before, but I'll say that I think it definitely should have been on VH3.

TWILY was cool. Rework the vocals and the mix and you've got a pretty good song. Gary sounded like he was singing with marbles in his mouth at times...attribute that to his having to sound like Sam, or the muddy Mike Post production, or what.

Has anyone ever seen the lyrics for this posted anywhere? Been listening to it for almost a year and there are still one or two verses in the song that are unintelligible.

I like VH3 cause of how the band plays. Gary's vocals were so loud on that album, and unless you have good bass, theres no way to blast it without hearing that annoying voice Gary has. TWILY, I don't like, it's all soft and Gar's vocals just botch it. If Sam sing them I don't know if it would be much better, Sam can sing a LOT better than Dave, it's very obvious, but Sam to me doesen't have that hard tone that Dave had to make the songs hard and raunchy. Maybe Sam can, but you don't hear it too much. I think TWILY and Josephina should have both been left out. VH was headed in a good direction tonewise, Ed was just amazing on VHIII.
