Sammy on Bob and Tom

Sammy was on Bob and Tom yesterday. I just heard the beginning of the interview, but it cleared up a little on Sammy’s perspective of Dave. Bob and Tom noted that when Dave was on their show, his entourage was on edge, that they were afraid of being fired at all times. Sammy said that’s because Dave’s an ass hole, that he was constantly firing people on the tour. He said Dave presents himself in this party animal persona, but behind the sense, he’s very angry, depressed and insecure.
I could be wrong, but that last statement seems to ring true. If Dave wants to get back in Van Halen or even re-start his solo career, he needs to accept what he was, is and could be. He needs to laugh at himself a little, and behave more like a rock sage as apposed to a punk kid.

Dave probably is insecure. He FUCKED up in '85 and he knows it. You know what ey say about you can never go back home...

In Dave's defense, however, I did hear that he tried to use several different sound technicians and most of them weren't up to par.

In Sam's defense, that is the same interview he did that one time during the tour.

Dave does need to seek some counciling. As hard as that is for me to say because I am his A number 1 fan. We all need to call a spade a spade. Dave IS insecure, angry, and probably depressed. He ruled the world once with VH and he left his country for greener pastures. THAT didn't work out and he wants to go home again. The only problem is that his old kingdom is in shambles with failed kingships and a grumpy, run-down, tired, injured army that doesn't wanna fight anymore.

Sorry Dave you cannot go home again :-(

I was just gonna mention this. I don't know how many reviews of concerts I saw that noted the sound problems with Dave's shows and that he was noticably pissed each time - for good reason!

Sammy can say Dave's an asshole, and maybe he is?!?! I don't know, 'cuz I've never even met him.
It's all the personal shots that Sam takes that are unnecessary.

I agree I wish Sam wouldnt talk about Dave as much. I'm also curious about what is Dave's sound set up like and why was it so difficult to find a sound guy that could do the job, it would be interesting to hear an interview with the guys who worked back stage during the tour. The fact that Dave went through a couple of guys makes me wonder what the problem was. This was a huge tour, you would think Dave would have used people who he worked with in the past.

Sammy is Sammy, Dave is Dave.

They both take shots at each other all the time. Its just that Dave uses phrases that suger coat them and Sammy just comes out and says how he feels.

Funny though how Gary doesn't take any shots at either man. (granted he doesn't have the same clout as Sam or Dave have).

Well if VH used FOR UNLAWFUL CARNEL KNOWLEDGE as an album title. Maybe they should use A.S.S.H.O.L.E.S. as the next album title. That would sum all of them up. (except Mikey of course)

Saying Dave is like The Emperor's New Clothes - unaware he's naked on stage - isn't a shot at Dave?

Anyway, I'm beginning to think that insecurity is human nature. Call it "the grass is always greener," call it the left hand wanting what the right hand has - whatever. Bottom line is it seems like the greater the man, the more insecure they are. Truth be told, I can almost understand a reason for Dave being insecure about his show. There was a time where, for a few years, he was standing on top of the world (pardon the Sammy lyric). Everybody wanted to be him, and quite a few women wanted to "do" him. Next thing you know, the style he originated becomes a big joke and people stop caring about it. It's hard to go from being the king to being a surf overnight.

I tend to agree that Dave and Sam both take shots at each other...they just have different personalities....Sam is more direct, and says what he feels...Dave just has some cryptic , wise ass answer for everything...
I think Sam really wants to be friends with everyone and tried to be cool with Dave during the tour, even wanted to have Dave come out during his show and sing together...but Dave would have none of it, which kind of shows some truth to the insecure theory....Sam is comfortable with who and what he is...Dave, well he seems to be having a mid life crisis....
And I still dont get all this crap about Sam being fat....do all of you Dave fans weigh 98 pounds or something ? I wish I was as "fat" as Sam....especially at 55 years old...he looks incredible for 45, let alone 55...and he has a full head of hair to boot....geez... [img]graemlins/thumb.gif[/img]

This is just how Sammy is.

Remember when he was kicked out of Van Halen how he took cheap shots at the brothers every chance he got. He is just doing the same thing now, except its Dave on the end of things. In Sammy's world it seems everyone is wrong, except Sammy.
