Tonight’s show started out good, but Perry quickly started blowing cues, forgetting whole parts of songs leading to another train wreck, all the more sad because this was drummer Stephen Perkins birthday. About 2/3rds through the set during Oceanside, Perry became aggressive and got in guitarist Dave Navarro’s face leading to a physical altercation with Perry being restrained by the band and roadie. Don’t see how the finish the tour now. Here’s video:

Could this be a preview of Noel and Liam next year? Kidding aside, I've seen JA a few times and these guys had confrontations with each other on stage. Usually it was Perry getting in the way of Navarro. Of course I've never seen it to this degree. It was shocking seeing Perry look so crazed!

Here is what Perry's wife said on instagram in posting the video.

Rather than speculating, I thought to post a first person account of what happened on stage with @janesaddiction last night at the @lenderpavilion in Boston.

WHO: Perry Farrell & Dave Navarro

HOW: Clearly there had been a lot of tension and animosity between the members.. the magic that made the band so dynamic. Well, the dynamite was lit. Perry got up in Dave's face and body checked him.

WHY: Perry's frustration had been mounting, night after night, he felt that the stage volume had been extremely loud and his voice was being drowned out by the band. Perry had been suffering from tinnitus and a sore throat every night. But when the audience in the first row, started complaining up to Perry cussing at him that the band was planning too loud and that they couldn't hear him, Perry lost it.

WHEN: The band started the song Ocean before Perry was ready and did the count off.. The stage volume was so loud at that point, that Perry couldn't hear pass the boom and the vibration of the instruments and by the end of the song, he wasn't singing, he was screaming just be to be heard.

    SO WHO WON THE FIGHT:
Why, Eric Avery of course. While Dave was keeping Perry at arm's length to de-escalate the situation. Dan rushed over to de-escalate as well by holding Perry back. Dave walked away to take his guitar off. Eric walked up to Perry, upstage, in the dark, behind Dan, put Perry in a headlock and punched him in the stomach three times. Kevin, crewmember with a long hair with long hair pulled Eric away. Then Eric nonchalant walked off to the front of the stage to apologize to audience for the show ended early.

    WHAT WAS THE AFTERMATH?
Dave still looked handsome and cool in the middle of a fight. Perry was a crazed beast for the next half an hour - he finally did not calm down, but did breakdown and cried and cried.
Eric, well he either didn't understand what descalation meant or took advantage of the situation and got in a few cheap shots on Perry.

Well, that's is my first person account narrative of what happened. Take a look at the video yourself.

They should have known that everyone in the audience would have their cell phones recording and obviously the blowup went viral. Maybe that was the intention? Perry certainly looked unhinged but he's very lucky Dave didn't knock him the fuck out!

Perry's wife Etty is like Yoko Ono x1000. She has weaseled her way into Janes for the last 20 years and considers herself part of the band (she has been one of the side stage "dancers"). She's always disliked Eric Avery, especially since Avery pushed for a stripped down, no BS production this tour emphasizing the music (which means no dancers). Her instagram post is a litany of shitty enabling excuses for why Perry went off the rails and completely bypasses the rapidly declining condition of her husband the past few weeks this tour. Here's a clip from a previous show just a week ago - Perry is completely out of it:

I don't doubt it. Just seems to be the only thing anyone has said and so I figured I'd post it.

Farrell was in Adam Carolla not long ago and I watched the video of it and he just seemed off, though I don't have much to compare it to.

I assume he's drunk during these shows and the band is frustrated. Somewhere I'd read that they seemed to shorten a spot in the show during this song where he's been rambling and that maybe set him off.

TB, I found this passage of her post quite interesting:

Eric, well he either didn't understand what descalation meant or took advantage of the situation and got in a few cheap shots on Perry.

Might explain why Eric Avery went MIA for so many years. Can't say I blame him with the drama Perry and Dave always brought to the band. That shit would wear anybody down!

When I saw JA on the Strays tour they had the Lolla Girls but I didn't know that Perry had snagged one of them. I do remember they always had their own spots during the show, bumping and grinding on all the members of the band. They had Chris Chaney on bass at the time and he was pretty good but he was always kept in the background. I gotta admit the Lolla Girls looked hot and all, but they had become part of the show big time - obviously because Perry wanted it that way.

His wife is blaming stage volume???? Farrell is wearing "in ears"

He has a rep of being a bit of a twat. I remember when Nuno worked with him and had to leave under bad circumstances. Nuno didnt say much, but alluded that Farrell was hard to deal with...

True. I remember Nuno being classy about it all but he also complained about Etty being on stage dancing and how it became a distraction. I liked the one album they did together I listen to it regularly some real good songs on it. Wish Upon A Dog Star, Hard Life Easy, Kinky and Insanity Rains some of my faves off that record.

So Nuno had to choose between going back to Extreme or continue working with Perry, he made a good choice. Kevin was also in the band as well and left with Nuno.
