The first one that I could play from beginning to end and got the feeling that "yes, now I know it good enough so I can play it anywhere" was "acoustic #3" by the Goo Goo Dolls..

First song that I have learned to play, beginning to end, is "Oh, Pretty Woman", Roy Orbison version. Still the only song I can play in it's entirety, but I'm workin'!

Achievements:
I was a bass player, haven't played in years (long story there) and obviously it's easier to figure out a bassline than it is to learn chords, solos, etc. But I flat wore out KISS Alive II in the 80's, Gene was my hero. The one I remember enjoying the most was "Shock Me" (put on ya black leather....). That was fun.
I remember having a great feeling of accomplishment when I could handle Iron Maiden's "Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner".
I simply HAVE to get myself a new bass rig and start enjoying life as a wannabe musician again.
I was always just a hack on guitar. Bedroom performances only.

"Gentle On My Mind" by Glenn Campbell.
Hey, it was a highschool guitar class. The next day I went to the music store and bought the "KISS AliveII" music book and learned "Doctor Love". So by the end of the week I could play two songs, which wasn't bad considering that Monday I'd never played the thing.Last edited by Axxman300; 01.14.05 at 09:58 AM.

1st song beginning to end with solos: Crazy Train. 1st riff: Iron Man and You Really Got Me and Shake Me by Cinderella.
My first real "goal song" was Eruption, literally bled and got it done with the help of a great friend and guitarist. Then I learned the entire VH1 album, most of White Lions "Pride" album, Def Leppards Hysteria, Ozzy's Tribute album was a huge influence and I tried to play everything along with the album.....this is bringing some great woodshed memories....I was obssessed with learning entire albums....Just go for it!
