Yeah, I don't see Gina being fired a political or media thing either. It's what it always is. A bunch of 20 year old's with nothing better to do. No careers or family to tear them away from the internet. Just trolling looking for something to cancel. They don't need anyone's help. Just bitch away.

Now they are bitching about Cavill not congratulating the new Supergirl. Also, he's a jerk cuz he dated Gina.

Time for everyone to stop caving over nonsense like this.

You're right it wasn't a political or media thing.

If you said what she said at McDonalds while taking a drive-thru order and a customer heard it and complained. You'd be fired. And you'd deserve it.

She was a side character on a wildly popular Disney produced show and she said what she said on Twitter for millions to see and she got fired. And it wasn't the first time she made controversial remarks on social media.

Sometimes people just need to stop defending dumbasses. And yes, that goes both ways.

You only say that because she wasn't spewing leftist propaganda like most of Hollywood does these days, without getting fired. If Pedro had been fired for his idiotic tweet basically comparing the US to Nazi Germany, you'd have been up in arms.

Incorrect. What he said 3 years ago, before the show was even a thing, was stupid as well. Has he said anything since?

But itís amazing. Clint Eastwood still directs and gets nominated for Oscars every year.

Hollywood must have forgotten to cancel him for being a Rightist.

They aren't mutually exclusive. She can be an idiot that deserved to get fired, and we can also acknowledge that if she was batting for the Democrats and said something stupid, Disney and others would have treated her with much more leniency.

It's not just Disney would have been more lenient, the reaction to her comments would have been much less. People are acting like Disney fired her because of her comments. They didn't. They fired her because of the reaction to her comments.

If you actually knew anything about what goes on in Hollywood you could talk. Eastwood doesn't get canceled because he is a MEGA STAR. My cousin worked in sound engineering for a guy who worked outside of studios as a contractor and he was as conservative as my cousin but he always told my cousin NEVER let any potential clients know how we lean politically because we will never get the job.

Since my cousin has done more acting in recent years he's worked with actors and crew members who you would never know leaned to the right, but they don't make it known because they would be out of work, unless you are a big enough Star like an Eastwood or a Bruce Willis, Adam Sandler etc.

The fact that you can sit there and pretend there is no bias in Hollywood is laughable and ridiculous.

It would be wise if entertainers didn't announce their political affiliation at all. Why risk losing fans? Bad business decision.

I agree. Politics has completely inundated every facet of our lives, sadly. Someone posted that clip of Ronald Reagan on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson and how you wouldn't know Carson's political leanings one way or the other from that clip and how something like that interview would never happen today, and that's correct. Its nearly impossible to watch any late night show on any given night and not have some leftist political statement be mentioned at some point. Sad.

    I would love this

Unfortunately there is a double standard in Hollywood. Heck Alysso Milnano just called the people at CPAC Nazis. While she has zero opportunity for work, that being said won't affect why she isn't getting a job. There will be no outrage. Nothing.

As DD said, each event is mutually exclusive. If we are putting cancel culture on references to Nazi's, the Holocaust, etc then it needs to be applied everywhere. Left, Right, Center, etc. Its simply not.

Just wish that we could go back to when we simply liked people for what they put on the screen.

And that is the flip side with this...the sensitive audience. Take Gina Carano's comment, for instance. Most of us wouldn't even be aware of her comment(s) is the media didn't make it news. But the media wouldn't have hyped it up if Disney didn't fire her. But she was on one of the most popular shows at the moment and so it's news. So now you have some people rallying around her, and you have some canceling their Disney+ subscriptions. Both reactions, to me, are nonsensical. IMO, she made a stupidly inaccurate comment. Her employer made a decision. Oh well. If they were to hire her back it wouldn't make a difference--I'm still going to watch The Mandalorian when it returns...with or without her.
I think people like DeNiro are jackasses when they make their political statements, but I'm not going to cancel him. Like I'm not going to watch The Irishman because of some stupid comments he made.

This cancel/boycott culture is bullshit. I don't understand engaging in such nonsense.

Never great to make comparisons with the Holocaust but her words were misunderstood. And really they weren't even her words since she copied it all from a Holocaust site.

She wasn't trying to say the US is Nazi Germany. She was comparing how we are turning against each other like the Jews did during WWII. Of course, dumb to compare because people will never hear anything over "Nazis, Holocaust....

Was it worthy of being fired, I don't think so. Apparently, the Jewish community doesn't think so either. According to, Shapiro.

From what I recall Pedro was calling people Nazis like Milano did. That's worse. But I still don't think your career should be over because of this either.

When it comes to movies, pop culture, these companies are pandering to a bunch of twenty year old's that don't know shit about anything. Most of them couldn't tell you where Germany is on a map. They need to worry more about the products they're creating and less about the young people of today who've grown up to bitch and complain about every little thing till they get their way.
