The whole anti PMRC was really uncalled for. The censorship argument was really to do about nothing. No artist was being censored. It was about a fucking warning label on an album. No different than a warning on a pack of cigarettes.

Hearings on it and Dee Snider looking like a cocky douchebag. Fake righteous indignation from musicians.
There was more to it than just a warning label. Many big box stores who were carrying CDs which was quickly becoming the leading format for music at the time were refusing to carry CDs with that warning label. There was also a push to actually fine and even arrest music stores and their employees who sold a CD with a warning label to minors just like selling cigs and alcohol to the kiddies. That all amounts to indirect censorship. Fortunately, that idiocy was stopped in it's tracks.

FM Radio was still huge in the 80s. Sure, Video Killed the Radio star, ect, yada, yada, .. ..... But people were still listening to FM radio in the car especially. Also in more rural areas that were late getting cable.

There were some great AOR, hard rock stations in the Dallas-Ft Worth area in the early-mid 80’s. Not so much anymore.

As far as wanting to catch them live.

Shame. Literally a 5 minute drive from my place too.

You are definitely loyal to band's original bass players, I'll give you that.

And Megadeth is a bucket list band for me too.

Just don't really care to see The Dave Mustaine Band.

    Default The Megadeth Thread!!!!

I saw them a couple years ago with the Scorpions. I thought they were good. I was actually more interested to see them than the Scorps. Never really been a huge Scorpions fan.

Saw Megadeth once with Motorhead, Volbeat & Lacuna Coil. Tsongas Center in Lowell, MA in 2012, I believe.

It was a good show, overall. Glad I saw them when I did. I believe it was the next tour when they started playing everything a full step down on account of Dave having throat surgery, or something to that effect. Normally, I don't mind when bands tune down. Scorpions have been doing it for 20 years. Whitesnake has been doing it for 10 years. VH should've done it from 2012 onward. But something about Megadeth's songs just don't agree with my ears when they're not in their normal tuning.

As far as Ellefson goes, meh. He's not irreplaceable. Wouldn't mind if they brought back James Lomenzo.
