It's a great read. Their are some interseting things that he stated in the book about Edward Van Halen. Now I don't know if this is the complete truth but the impression I got from Dave was that Edward is very jealous of him ( kind of new that already). Dave thinks it's crazy. Here is the quote he made.
I guess on of the resultant tributes was when Edward Van Halen, in a confiding conversation before the big catastrophe at the MTV Awards, said, "I'm jealous of you."
I asked: "Why?"
He said: "Because you go out and do exactly what you want to do. I'm working for my brother, my agent, my manager, everybody. Even when it cost you money in record sales you still did it. I never did that , and I'm pissed."
Well, I guess Ed got to do what he wanted to do because that is what III was.

Is Dave a liar or is Eddie really that much of an asshole. Hmmmmmm
In Nov. 99 I would have said Dave's a liar, but now I know Ed is an Asshole.

I tend to side with Dave after reading his book. Very interesting and a very smart individual. More than I can say about the Van Halen brothers at this point. Hell, I will be the first one to tell all of you I am a huge Edward Van Halen fan. But what Alex and him have done by releasing that lame statement today is a huge slap in the face and kick in the ass to there loyal fans. This is coming from a guy that has been a fan since 1980. It hurts me to say it but I had to.

Dave also said in his book that he got caught up in the album/tour/album/tour mentality himself. That's a nice quote about a supposed conversation between Dave and Eddie, but I don't believe it's true.
Dave didn't suffer diminishing sales because he was staying true to his cause, he just fell out of favor. Dave is no more pure in the real world of corporate rock than Eddie is.

Agreed Glenn but one has to wonder why Edward feels this way. I feel it is very childish of him to make a statement like that.

It's a great book, I read it two years ago. It's time for a new book.
Maybe VH should write a book, since they don't release albums anymore. Right Now you're reading my post!

Well, instead of WRITING one, they could be IN one. You know, a VH version of 'Where's Waldo?' or something. Don't bark at me...I didn't name ya.

Well, it certainly had to be written by David Lee Roth to think Eddie was jealous of him. It is not a wild guess who has all the talent here. Eddie is considered the most innovative and influential guitar player ever. He went #1 five times since Dave was gone. Where is there jealousy here?
