New Metallica documentary. This time with fan stories and interviews. Plus the band.

From Award-winning director Jonas Åkerlund, “Metallica Saved My Life” explores the world of Metallica through the lives of their fans—including the bandmembers themselves—who have supported each other through highs, lows, trials, and triumphs for over four decades.

Get a sneak peek of this brand-new (not-quite-finished) film at select cities along the M72 World Tour.

Default Metallica Nashville May 3 2025

we have family 20 minutes from Nashville, TN. heading there to see Metallica and Limp Bizkit next week. only saw Limp Bizkit once on the Summer Sanitarium Tour in 2003. saw Linkin Park, Limp, Metallica at Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis. my wife was pregnant with our first son, Eddie (named after King Edward of course) at that show. now he's 21. he, my wife and i will be at the show next Saturday. we all saw them twice in St. Louis last year. it will be Ed's 3rd time seeing them. i think i'm on about show 12 - 15.

Obviously the bands at nighttime were the big names. IIRC, Friday night was Korn, which I wasn't really into, but we were on the outskirts of the crowd. The video of the crowd during their performance was insane. My memory, again from the outskirts, wasn't as crazy. But that video is impressive.
Saturday night was the bigger draw for me with Metallica as the headliner. Limp Bizkit was cool to see--they were very popular at the time. The thing that sucked was during their show, people were throwing bottles in the crowd so you had to be aware of that. At least 1 band was in between LB and Metallica (maybe Rage?). I honestly don't remember much from them. Metallica was cool. After the final bands played there were raves and various after-parties. I checked one out on Friday night, but it wasn't my scene. lol

My friends and I will still bring up the Woodstock '99 stories on occasion and have a laugh (6 of us went). Oddly enough, with all those big name bands, one of the highlights for me was Saturday afternoon, a couple of us wound up at the side stage in time to see Lit and Buckcherry with a smaller crowd. It was actually pretty cool. Good little atmosphere.

We had a cool little RV which was helpful. Just wish we had brought more cases of water!! People were making a killing selling waters--it was so hot. We left Sunday before the real shit went down with the fires and bullshit. Glad we did. Saw it on tv when I got home.

Did you play for the Rock Cats? In hard-hittin' New Britain?

Hack, a lot of the full preformances from Woodstock 99 are available on YT. Besides Metallica, check out Megadeth, Collective Soul, Bush, Korn and Rage Against The Machine. Great stuff!

that is really cool that u were at Woodstock 99. seemed like a lot of hot chicks also !
my wife and i went to Bonnaroo in 2008. pretty sure it was 2008. bands we went to see:

State Radio (underground band, used to be some guys from Dispatch, my buddy got us in to)
    Jack Johnson

big reasons we went were Pearl Jam and Metallica. Jack Johnson was before Pearl Jam. Eddie Vedder came onstage for a song or two with Jack. Chris Rock was before Metallica. first time i ever saw a comedian at a concert. cool experience, but not near as big as Woodstock. that was probably a good thing for us.

i did play for the Rock Cats with the Twins organization in 1999. got promoted to AAA the last month or so.HACK AA baseall card.jpg

for about 10 seconds i thought i might have been called up ! we were in Binghamton, NY playing the Mets AA team. chilling in the hotel room, Russ (John Russel) our manager calls our room. we were scared to death. Russ barely talked to us much less called to chat. told me i got called up. for 10 secs or so he was giving me travel itinerary. didn't know if i was going to AAA or MLB. flew out to join our AAA team in Tucson, AZ. no MLB.

first night i started at DH. David Ortiz was playing first, where i also played. i hit a HR that night, he did not. he batted 4th, i may have been in the 5 or 6 slot. went 2-4 with a bomb first night, then sat for about 4 games ! i'd never sat more than 1 day in my career. very rude awakening. we had 12 guys with big league time on our roster if i remember correctly. they tend to play the guys with MLB time before guys like me who were up for 1 day !

Hack, I always wanted to play kickass baseball! Unfortunately I sucked. All my friends played Little League and I couldn't even make that. Too clumsy and uncoordinated. Story of my life...hehe
