Man, I can't stand long-grain rice like Jasmine or Basmati, etc. Grocery stores haven't been carrying it here lately. I'm picky if ain't sticky.

    It's got to be medium-grain.

Out for a walk and I'm tripping. There's like Christmas block parties all around. Blocked off streets everywhere. Little mini parades. Horn sections. Mariachi music. Made me smile, like wtf is going on? Then it dawned on me. Life is going on. Get outside every now and then.

    People everywhere

Edit. I get it. Know what's happening. Just never paid attention for over 30 years. Lol.

I have to go to a Christmas party tonight for my business networking group. I’m totally dreading it. I have to go buy a fucking white elephant gift. And like a nice one it can’t be something cheap. The minimum is $25. And
I have to bring soda and shit. If I didn’t really need to get business from these people with referrals, I totally wouldn’t go tonight, but I’m trying to do the right thing. Lol. I hate fucking parties like this.

People in your past ever pop up in your head for no reason? A coworker from 30 years ago did, recently. We used to smoke on the job. Him a hippie who could function at the highest level and me, paranoid. Anyway, I'm scrolling thru FB Reels and see this one with a tatted up dude talking about no drama in his life. If you're not a good influence, then leave, etc. I look thru the comments because I wanted to know who this dude was.

4 comments in I see the name of coworker. Couldn't believe it. We reconnected even if it's just on the interwebs. We were both 22 or 23 years old in our 50's now.

I had a friend from my Jr High School days somehow find and contact me through Facebook earlier this year. Haven't seen him since about 1974, good guy, we BS'd a bit and caught up. That led me to wonder what happened to a girlfriend from the same timeframe, found her profile on Facebook. Looks like she had some sort of heart issues and kicked the bucket a few years ago.

It's called serendipity. Happened to me many times in my life. Bizarre coincidence, chance encounter or something else?

I'm listening to Cher's autobiography and while I knew some of her back story, such as she grew up poor ( actually ridiculously poor) and her mother married many many times, there were some shocking things about her that I don't think were ever public

Such as her biological father abandoned them in Scranton, his last task before taking off was to put Cher in a Catholic orphanage ( without her mothers prior knowledge or approval) She said she went in there an infant and came out a walking toddler. She was there a while as her mother could only find work waiting tables and was only allowed to see her thru a window once a week. The nuns would not release her. The way she got out was her mother charmed a city councilman customer who went down to the orphanage with her and told the nuns that they had no legal right to keep a child from her mother so hand the kid over. wow

And the other weird thing is that I sometimes think that Hollywood much be like a huge high school or a small town within a big city because it seems like everyone comes into contact with everyone. Cher's mother and step father were actors and they took classes with people like Rod Steiger and Robert Mitchum. As a child, Cher knew Lucile Ball because Lucy liked her mother and kept hiring her for bit parts and as an extra and Cher would tag along. When she wanted to leave Sonny she called Lucy and asked her what to do because she was the only other woman she knew who had been in that position.

And her mother and step father used to go to luau parties where she hung out with the daughters Claudia, Gail and Deanna Martin...as in Dean Martin...they were his daughters. ANd they used to go across the street to their friends house and their tiny mother would come into the room they were playing in and chastise them to go out side and play in the fresh air. So Cher and Deanna and LIZA would go play outside. Liza Minnelli was the friend across the street and the mom was....well you know.

I'm only in the 6th chapter of this book and Cher is a 10 year old hellion who hopped a freight train with her friend and ended up in a town 40 miles away.

I can see why she needs 2 books to tell her life story. Her childhood is Dickensian stuff interspersed with some really wild Hollywood connections
