Have you guys noticed a growing number of wild highway drivers? Sure there have always been assholes on the roadways, but these boneheads are weaving in and out of traffic at high speeds as if they've played too many video games. I guess it could be the reason for it.
I'm on a highway 10 times a week, and I've seen a lot of these idiots. Enough that I'm now asking strangers on a message board if it's some kind of phenomenon.
And it's not like I have "the old cruise control set at 45" (Revenge of the Nerds). I average about 75. But they go from one side of the highway to the other as long as there is an opportunity for them to get ahead of others, no matter how narrow the space is.

The only time I have been on the highway in the last year was to drive my kids to college.

Most of the time I am sitting here in my office.

I swear, I work more hours now than I did pre Covid. Working from home I feel like I am constantly on call.

When lockdown happened around here, the police were essentially told not to bother pulling anyone over for fear of infections. That, couple with the fact everyone was at home, meant that the highways were a wild west where people would drive over 100 on a regular basis. My buddy was still needing to go into an office because he was handling their IT infrastructure and had to give it regular checks, and he said he would be driving 85 or 90 and some dudes would just zoom right by him as if he was going 45.

Now that things have opened up maybe people are having a hard time breaking those habits.

Love to watch these old interviews. They seem less scripted.

You can tell Bronson didn't like that coal mining... So reserved and sort of pushing back in his chair a bit, but sort of springs forward when it gets to the next topic.

You watch enough of these interviews and you compare them with today.... The older actors seem to have less ego and more intelligence. You can tell that a number of them have lived in the real world.

Many actors now seem liked the politicians that have spent most of their life in politics and very little time working like normal people.

    Another example:

I remember being a kid and seeing him in a movie for the first time.

Such an intimidating force. And not in a negative way. Screen presence and intelligence.

Okay, so it's 2021. This internet thing has been around for a few years. Can we please figure out how to get videos that aren't hosted on Youtube to load properly and in a timely fashion? I can't tell you how many sites I visit on a daily basis, whether it be for news or entertainment, where the video player just can't do a damned thing without hiccupping or just plain not loading. I'm on a fiber line using Chrome on a PC built in the last three years. What in God's name is the problem here?! Don't worry though, because that ad you have to sit through will fire right up.

Oh, and the guy that invented autoplay videos on websites should be tarred and feathered. Nothing like browsing through various sites only to have a loud as hell ad for toilet paper come on to scare the shit right out of you. I guess they're creating target markets in the process. Today's autoplay videos are yesterday's pop ups. No one wants them. No one. No. One. Fucking. Wants. Them.

You just never know when you need to mitre a board at 12:30 at night, and how wants to bother their neighbor at that hour?

Anyone have experience with deck tiles? I have an 8x8 concrete pad that I'm thinking about painting or covering with deck tiles to spruce things up but in the scheme of things, they aren't cheap.

Your first mistake was thinking you could make a woman understand. Your second mistake was trying to make her understand.

We did it to a concrete slab and screwed it up. We didn't know that we should have put some kind of waterproof membrane underneath, we just sealed the concrete. But then we set stone tiles using a thin set.

needless to say, the tiles popped loose when the moisture wicked thru the concrete ( it was a pretty damp location drainage was a problem)

Had to redo the whole thing because we found that the sealing didn't work and the thin set either never really set or degraded due to moisture and caused the tiles to crack. The sealer was actually the WRONG thing because it didn't let the mortar bond to the existing concrete and didn't keep moisture out of the mortar either. Good news was they were easy to pull and reuse

hard lesson..concrete sealer does not take the place of a moisture barrier. We used some red goo on the second go round. Sorry but I cannot remember the name of it. A good home improvement store should set you on the right path.

Other lesson learned is that concrete has to be uncracked and stable and pretty flat so just laying down a layer of mortar wasn't enough you have to apply mortar to the back of the tile, but because we didn't properly prepare the slab, the thick mortar we had that leveled the low places never properly set. We should have used a leveling product and let that cure before applying the membrane and we would have been better off

second attempt went well and I guess it's holding up....I sold the house but drove by it last year and it looked like the tiles were still fine

It;s definitely a do it yourself project, if you cross all your T's and dot all your I's
