DLR smokes cigarettes???

They showed this backstage thing at the VMA's on mtv today and they showed david lee roth........... he was smoking one of those cancer sticks! That's the first time I have ever seen him smoking. Is this something he just started to do?? It seems kind of weird because a while ago he was bashing eddie and alex,because all they do is "sit at home all day, and smoke".

Why do you care? He also has been known to do cocain, drink, smokes weed and has had more women than you can dream of. As some think "he is the greatest frontman in rock history". I sure as hell wouldn't want a choir boy with this title. Keep on smoke'n

I actually didn't know DLR smoked. Probably because I have never seen a picture of him smoking.

Pabs, look for early interview footage of the band or even pictures, Dave definitely is/was a smoker. Certainly hasn't helped his voice any either.

I think Dave meant by his comment that Eddie and Al are just sitting on their asses, I don't think the smoking thing was important, just saying...they're sitting at home smoking.

He has always smoked a lot of weed as he states in his book. He sure looked/acted stoned on certain Letterman appearances years ago.

I ran into Dave and the whole "Eat 'em and Smile" band back in the 80's at the Troubador in LA. I tried to get DLR's autograph,but was "apprehended" by a bodyguard. I did get close enough to see Dave hold up a cig for the bodyguard to light for him, though. I did get to hang with the rest of the band for quite a while at their table. They were cool as hell!

yep..he's always smoked...apparently he smokes sausages too...says he likes that hickory smoked flavor and he's got lots of sausages hangin round in back of his house....

Hmm...I never knew he was a constant smoker, though. I'm hoping he isn't like a chain-smoker. His voice is not any lower than it's been in 15 years...I guess instead of lowering his voice, smoking has damaged it and that's probably why he has trouble keeping strength to his voice when he isn't touring. He claimed once that he doesn't smoke while touring. That could be another reason...Of course he broke that rule at the VMAs.
