Fellow Vh fans....this is Azrael here....I haevn't posted a topic in quite a long time. The last one was a letter to remind all of us that we must be patient and that Van Halen is Van Halen...no matter who is singing...ti is all Van Halen.
Well, ti seems we are faced with a lot of grief. Here we are sitting back at our computers, whether it be at work or home...but we all seem to go to this website or another VH link to chekc out the news. And everyday, as we log on, having our wolfgang radio playing in the background, we are disappointed to find out---> NO NEWS!
I am very disappointed, and utterly frustrated. But one thing is for sure, WE WILL HAVE SOMETHING IN THE FUTURE!!! Now, we can read all the rumors we want.....the latest I think I read was MARCH. Please update me if I am wrong, but this is the latest I heard.....and my information is from reading everything you guys & gals have written. And I trust all of your predictions. But let us be truthful to ourselves, here we are Jan. 10th, 2001 and not word, not peep from anybody. It is a little depressing but I have not lost my faith. But one thing I do feel is that we will be waiting longer than MARCh for this so called album. And I will tell you why...I was driving in my car and the played AEROSMITHS new song, and then said that album will be coming out in MARCH. Now, we all have our opinions about AEROSMITH, "they suck!" "their old" or whatever negative nonsense us VH heads can think of, but the the truth remains....they are making music, kicking ass and taking names. Vh is not doing this. I mean, if an album is to come out in MARCH, don't you think we would have heard something by now? I could be wrong about it, but I think we are going to be waiting a longer time than MARCH.....I mean, even Hagar was able to put out two albums...even though some may think they sucked...the fact is...he has music out thereand VH doesn't.
We must be patient...but I share the grief that we all feel!

I agree, something this big, you're gonna have to promote the shit out of it for a while. 3 months is not enough. Plus, if an album came out in March, a single would be coming out fairly soon. I seriously doubt VH would be stupid enough to try and "spring" an album on us for the surprise effect. Thats just bad marketing. I think we should hear something soon as far as an announcement, but I think it is looking like at earliest a summer album release. But, hell, all I want is the announcement right now. Just something to assure me that an album with the Diamond one is on the way. By the way, you guys should check out the interviews Brett put up. Good job. Some of the more recent ones had some pretty relevant comments about the situation they are now facing, even though they had no idea of it at the time.

Well I for one am getting pretty agrivated here with all the crap that VH isn't doing. I think they owe it to their fans to at least give some insight on what is going on. Something called a little professional courtesy. But I tend to doubt they would even go that far.

As for Aerosmith, they are out there and rocking as you said Azriel. They doing all the right things. They are capturing the public's eye. They put out a catchy little song which isn't one of their best, but IT IS radio friendly. Thus leading to strong sales.

All in all, i think the long VH waits, the less likely they will do well with Dave or not. They need to do marketing like aerosmith, write a radio friendly type song like aerosmith, and pretty much follow their step.

People don't like to remember but 1984 was a radio friendly album. Jump was a radio friendly/cross over hit. The thing was pushed on MTV and marketed correctly. So that is what needs to be done. Plain and simple.

I'm starting to think May at the earliest now.
Of course, what do I know??

    The same as you.

I don't think following in Aerosmith's footsteps is the answer. But I have to admit, they've cornered the 40+ rocker market right now, and their label knows it.

Its hard to look forward to a date because of all the let downers. I try not to think about dates. Instead, I rely on the rumored track listings and tour dates. Now thats reliable.

How do you come up with this "its all Van Halen no matter who's singing" crap?

All this waiting........some days I think it's not gonna happen. Then of course I wise up, cuz if it wasn't happening, we would of heard by now.

I imagine that the Warner Brothers and VH marketing machines will be hitting full stride any moment though.

I think it's gonna happen like this: Huge press conference/event sometime in March along with a single/video release. Album to be released in May with a June/July tour kickoff.

Be patient. Good things come to those who wait? Or something like that....

to anwer your reply about my statement "It's all Van Halen"........many many many months ago( I sound like that guy from Police Academy).....many months ago there was some griping going on about how Gary sucked..and that Sammy sucked.....all I said back then was....If we are true fans we will stick by our band no matter who sings. The band will always be Van Halen until the two men who own that name leave the band. And I think alot of people will support my point. They did before.
