I made the Pats shirts for Sammy at Great Woods and Meadowbrook Farm! When he wore it at Meadowbrook Farm and the place went fucking nuts, I had to do it again so I went out and bought another shirt and had it screened! He gave the shirts away both nights. I hoped he would have kept the one from Great Woods as I signed it and worte a message on the 55. Was awesome to see him wear my shirt though. Will def. do it again the next time he comes here!

For what it's worth, I didn't post about Dave's half of the show yet...so here goes.

When Sammy set was over, about half the crowd evacuated the place (probably for the bathrooms, since there were no "slow" parts of Sammy's show during which to take a break!) I was kinda worried that everyone was leaving, since it had been a Redhead-heavy audience. In the meantime, though, I got up close to the stage. Couldn't get a spot along the railing, but definitely stayed in the second row and watched the changeover happen. Got a kick out of seeing a stagehand presetting the 2 bottles of Jack.

First words out of Dave's mouth were (of course) "Look at all the people here tonight!" This brought a roar from the crowd, and I turned around to see that most everyone had returned to their seats. Dave's band kicked into "Hot For Teacher" and proceeded to do the show exactly as I had seen it in Chicago, except this time Dave had on a metallic pink and silver leather outfit (which I liked a lot) and this time, I was a lot closer. Unfortunately, with all the people packed in, I barely had room to move!

Some Rothtard out there is gonna crucify me, but I gotta say it. Dave's entire show is so hell-bent on creating the illusion of a young VH that it almost seems choreographed. He's got Brian and James going through the motions up there, tossing their hair around and always staying symmetrical around Dave. While they do a great job of backing him up, there's really no room for any of the band members to cut loose. Even Brian's solo is like a scripted part of the show. And the things Dave says are completely predictable, especially if you've seen the show more than once. The setlist was killer, of course, but it was also the same setlist they've done every night.

Like other people have posted, Dave did make a bit of a jab at Sammy partway through. I didn't think it was that big a deal. First he told the crowd to tune in to the VMAs on Thursday, and then said something along the lines of "Last time I was on the MTV video awards, Mr. and Mrs. Bertinelli were happily married, and Sammy was kicked out of the band. Today, Ed and Val are a statistic, and Sammy Hagar works for me!" This got some laughter, but a clear amount of BOO. So Dave goes, "So let's try it the other way. I work for Sammy Hagar." This got more cheering, and some boos from the Dave-heads. Dave said something else (a string of swear words) and got back into "Yankee Rose" pretty quick. I guess when I get the recording of the show I'll see what he said for sure.

During Beautiful Girls, Dave looked straight at me, and at Ben. When you get a good look in the man's eyes, it sure looks like he is teetering on the edge of sanity. It's creepy! Anyone else know what I mean? Or am I the one who's nuts here?

Bottom line, Dave knows that the music he made with VH is awesome, so he plays it every night and the crowd eats it up, but the man is such a talented entertainer in his own right that I wish he could do his own thing instead of trying so hard to pay tribute to the past. I guess that's what he needs to do in order to play to big crowds like this...which is kind of sad.

I think he grabbed his crotch and said "It wouldn't be rock and roll without a little fucking controversy." At least that what it sounded like to me.

I'll throw in my two cents here.

Sam was not bad at all. I never really liked the guy, but I enjoyed his show. He did seem like a magician pulling one rabbit after another out of his hat. But it was some quality entertainment. It was great seeing Mike up there. He seemed to be really enjoying himself.

I think at one point Sammy yelled "I want some pussy!" Whatever.

I thought Dave was just incredible. He looked fantastic, that outfit was perfect for him. His abs looked better now than they did when he was in his 20's. And he sounded great too, IMO. I didn't know what to expect based on some of the reviews that I read here and other places. I was definitely pleased. I could have watched him for hours and hours. I especially enjoyed "Little Dreamer", "DOA", and "I'm the One".

I didn't hear any boo-ing except for when he said that shit about Sam working for him. The folks sitting around me were up on their feet for Dave's entire show.

I really hope Dave is not done. He is such a great entertainer and still has a lot to offer. I would love to see him do shows at a smaller venue.(like the Orpheum here in Boston.)

LOL! Sam does this EVERY show during "Poundcake." He's done it at every show I've seen and all the Sam boots I've heard. And it's getting really old, but it's a piece of shtick the fans have come to expect.

    DG, I agree...Dave's outfit ruled!

Good reviews, Maya. Your feelings about the shows pretty much mirror mine.

I thought Sam was far cruder than Dave. Kind of made me laugh when some people hammered Dave for the JD "shower". Sam talks about sex and drinking and smoking dope, a drops f bombs all night. I'd rather have my kid see Dave jackin off with JD than see Sam's show from that perspective. And I'm a Sammy fan! I do think Sam ought to tone that stuff down though.
