could this be a lie? i had someone (a major KISS fan) tell me that this could be just a lie by Roth; to ensure the surprise element when they announce anything, like KISS did... that's wishful thinking for me (because i don't believe it), but what do you all think?

I know this goes way against the grain, but I still think it's Roth and this is a huge smokescreen.
If the songs are finished and being mixed, or at least close to it, then the band could be relaxing just building up the rumours.
After thinking about it, there were just to many things said over the last year that coincide with each other to suddenly think it was all a lie.
Look at all the publicity this is already stirring up, and actually nothing's been said except for Roth's statement. Who was it in the past who used to set up the best smoke screens? Wasn't it Roth?
Regardless of the fact that everyone(sorry not everyone, just the majority) seems to be picking every word apart and forming their own linch mob, I still think that Roth is part of the picture.

The one thing that keeps my hope alive of a VH/DLR reunion is the fact that the VH statement was very vague. It was left to a lot of interpretations. Roth's message was more straight forward but still left everyone with many questions. Why not go on TV? Why not get interviewed by a newspaper or magazine reporter? All we have is an audio message from his website. If his website didn't have problems before, I wouldn't think twice about the timing of the message. I'm going to keep my hopes up until I hear something that is 100% concrete.

the chances that an album is done and being mixed are slim and none.
no new songs have been submitted to either DLR's or VH's publishers.
if a band is coming out with new stuff - especially a band like van halen with big publishing deals - all the music biz inside red tape needs to be taken care of, and it hasn't -- yet.

no new songs beyond VH 3 & DLR Band have shown up yet.

What would be the point if this was all a smokescreen as some have indicated? So the brothers or the lable said, Dave go out an put something on your internet site that throws the fans off like we have not been working or something of that sort. Huh?

I'm sure that Dave has not been able to contact these clowns, and that they are screwing with him again. He was trying to throw the first punch and get the line of communication open again. Who knows if this worked or not, DLR could still be sitting by the phone. If I was DLR I'd get back onto the road in the meantime.

Actually, the thing I don't get (and hopefully someone can explain it to me) is this:

Dave himself says he isn't with the band and everyone ignores it and still thinks he is.

Brad, a VH toadie says Sammy isn't with the band and it's gospel.

So what makes Brad's word more valuable than Dave's himself?
