Do you really WANT a reunion with both Sam & Dave?

Don't know whether I'm the only one here, but I must admit I really don't care for the idea of both Sam & Dave reuniting with VH for a double CD/tour whatever... I can't help but see it as pure nostalgia and certainly a backward step. I'm absolutely desperate for new music, but I honestly don't believe this is the way to go. One or the other, even singer #4 would be infinitely preferable IMHO. I realise you could also argue getting either Sam or Dave back separately could also be viewed as nostalgia, but it wouldn't be quite so blatant - and I truly believe you need the focus of ONE line-up to move forward creatively. What do you guys think...

At this point van halen is nostalga. They could move on to new things not using the name van halen. I would love to see all of them back together releasing new music and touring. Remember we are all here because of what they have done in the past. Most of us want to here them return to a sound of either 1980ish or 1990ish rater than here them try to compete in todays sound. Hard rock will be popular again at some point.

I agree with rodo. Like it or not, Van Halen is a trip back in time. Sure they could get a new singer, but like Cheroni they ended up playing most of the classic hits anyways.

In addition, when was the last time "van halen" had a hit song? Probably over 10 years ago with Right Now/Top of the World.

Actually I think "Can't Stop Lovin' You" charted higher than either of those other two songs. Either way, that's 7 years ago, almost 8. VH is old news to the entire music world.

I totally agree with you Pat. I don't like it. How would they record an album with 2 singers, it just wouldn't work out. These guys have big enough egos as it is. VH can't get along with just one of those guys let alone both at the same time. I think it's a bad idea. Unfortunately a 4th singer might be their only option if they can't get one of those guys back.

Actually I want them to retire the name Van Halen and move into a different scene. Instrumental Blues. Kind of like Vai and Satriani but more bluesy, but that's another topic so I'll stop here.

But I agree, it's a bad idea.

Personally I DONT want a reunion with both singers. I just want a reunion with Roth and that way they can focus on the music with Roth and not have any Cheese ballads going on in their heads cause they've been working with sammy as well. Just stick to the rock.
