For all the innocent people who have lost their lives in this tragedy and their families they left behind, because of our freedom and everything America stands for.
I know this is a Lee Greenwood song, but everything about this song just expresses what my country means to me. I hope you don't mind me sharing:
If tomorrow all the things were gone
I'd worked for all my life,
And I had to start again
with just my children and my wife,
I'd thank my lucky stars
to be livin' here today.
Cause the flag still stands for freedom
And they can't take that away.
And I'm proud to be an American
Where at least I know I'm free
And I won't forget the men who died
Who gave that right to me
And I gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today
Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land
God bless the USA
From the lakes of Minnesota
To the hills of Tennessee
Across the plains of Texas
From sea to shining sea
From Detroit down to Houston
And New York to LA
Well there's pride in every American heart
And its time we stand and say
That I'm proud to be an American
Where at least I know I'm free
And I won't forget the men who died
Who gave that right to me
And I gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today
Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land
God bless the USA
And I'm proud to be an American
Where at least I know I'm free
And I won't forget the men who died
Who gave that right to me
And I gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today
Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land
God bless the USA

And let's not forget that NYC is an international, cosmopolitan city. That's why it was chosen. There are undoubtedly lots of non-Americans among the dead who worked at the WTC and surrounding areas.
Talked to my friend (American) this morning. He's still at his building more than 24 hours after all this happened - he's staying there to make sure it's up and running when people go back to work. No one is allowed into lower Manhatten to relieve them - ConEdison has cut all power to the area and they're on emergency power.
Seems weird to me, but on the other hand it's obviously important symbolically if things get back to a relative "normality" asap. He described being chased down Pine Street by a cloud of dust when the first tower collapsed - his boss saw the second plane fly into the tower from the 66th floor of their building and CLOSE. Unbelievable
My brain couldn't even process it for 5 minutes when I woke up this morning. They're going to be digging up 1000s of bodies of all nationalities for days, less than 5 miles from my house. Delusions of eloquence

Flags are flying at half-mast at 10 Downing Street. Britain certainly has experienced terrorism though no one has ever experienced anything on this scale obviously. When all is said and done, we may be two countries separated by a common language but we know who are friends really are.Delusions of eloquence

No I didn't think that for one minute But this didn't happen in Dayton, OH it happened in downtown Manhattan. It was the *world* trade center - in an area full of foreign tourists, not to mention foreign companies. It's no accident that there were TV cameras pointed at the building when the second plane crashed - that was the idea. It was a global event even if it took place on American soil, New York is the highest profile city on earth.
Our friend who works there and got showered with debris is Turkish, my sisters (British) and wife (Turkish) have been to the observation deck within the last month. That area is a global community, especially at this time of year.
Hopefully, there will be a strong global response.Delusions of eloquence

The WTC is also a symbol of global economy. I think the attack was due in part by the brainwashed ideals many arab nations have towards the free world and their strong economies. The irony is that the brainwashing is apparently coming from a billionare!

Awards:
The Australian PM called it an 'act of bastardry'', and gave a commitment to help out in any way we can - although I suspect the US is gonna go for this by itself, forming another 'coalition' takes time, and once they have a culprit, its gonna be a quick strike.
An Australian firm owns the lease on the shopping plaza under the towers, and theres plenty of us up in those things. I'm not at work this week, but Ms Goo works for a courier company. The whole place was just totally in shock yesterday, and noone was ringing them up for courier services.. all of Sydneys gone dead. It kinda makes us all think back to what we were fearing could happen here when we held the olympic games. Except this time it's tragically became real.

This was not just an attack on the USA. This was not just an attack on 'the freeworld'. This was was an attack on humanity. This was an attack life itself. There was no regard for human life, soldier, civilian, mother, father, or child. There was no regard for life at all in this mass murder. I myself am very disturbed about this horrific act of violence, and as a husband, and father I worry more today than yesterday, or last week about my family and myself. This is just another symptom of a disease that plagues our planet...we can't get along. Why? We all have families, we all have hopes, dreams, and it matters not the nationality, color, creed, religion...we are all the same when it comes right down to it. We are all flesh and blood just as anyone in the USA, Russia, Isreal, Iraq, China, everywhere...we are just flesh and blood. Why? Why do we do this? They call this an 'act of war'. That doesn't make sence to me. Wars are usually fought for territory, resources, FREEDOM...where does the act of WAR come into play here. This was NOT an act of war, this was TERRORISM in it's truest form, and on a scale that MANKIND has never experienced and it should never forget! My son today made me remove CNN from the T.V. to put his favourite movie on, 'Toy Story'...two year olds are so smart!
Not to 'diminish' the horror the USA is now experiencing, but I would like to expand on the very well known saying and say GOD BLESS HUMANITY!Life is something that happens when your planning something else.

That's what's so unbelievable. The entire world can't believe that terrorism can be this devastating...so calculated and designed to surely cause such a high rate of death and destruction. From the full gas tanks to the pin-point targeting of those buildings!

I have always considered NYC as my home away from home. And watching all the davastation the attacks did, My heart just sunk, I'm completely heartbroken.
But there's always hope that we may see better days, not now or later but soon.
May God bless all the families of the victims and innocent people that suffer this horrible horrible act of inhumanity.
I will forever be change by this accounts, nothing will be the same again.
God Bless and prayers to all. Do you think we migth still have to wait anyway?
