I've never (nobody has) seen a Presidents approval ratings so high. Last I heard, they were around 90 percent. Thats unheard of.
How do you think he's doing?
Personally, I dont think he could handle any of this any better.sheepa latta peepah dabba looka foh a moopy

Out of the ashes of these tragedies arose a true leader. He came of age on Sept 11.

True, VERY true actually, but you must confess, there were (are) a LOT of places he could have gone wrong here vs. a LOT of places where he visibly went right.

Before Sept. 11, I was skeptical of our president's ability to lead our country.
I'm pleased to report he's done an outstanding job of proving me wrong.

He's spoken the obvious sentiment of the American people. That's what Presidents do at times like this. Bush's team has been great so far, both in writing his speaches and in getting the foundations for policy set. They've made it easy for him to do what he has to.
If we had to point to a single most impressive leader in all of this, I think it'd be Guiliani (however that's spelled). The guy has gone from persona non-grata to really showing his mettle under amazing pressure. That's just an opinion of a guy who's never been to NY though, so take it for what it's worth.

Gotta agree on both.
Bush has had great help in making the right moves, of course ultimetaly, HE chooses the paths to take based on his advisors advice and potential solutions. He did a great job surrounding himself with the right people, and he has done a great job choosing the right moves based on his staffs suggestions.....I think thats what the presidents job is from the git go.
Guilliani was incredible through all of this. No doubt. Truly came through as a hero for a bunch of folks......however, no matter how great he has been, I dont think its in good taste to challenge term limits like he has been hinting at while he is riding the coat tails of popularity. He should just go out as a great hero.

Ever managed your boss by presenting only options that you knew were right, and selling one in particular? I think a lot of that goes on in the Whitehouse, for good or for bad.
Rudy should've never brought up the idea of his staying on. New York needs to move on.

I wasn't a big fan of either Gore or Bush around election time; but after seeing how Bush has handled things, I've gotten say "Amen" to ya Rod. Having "Mr. Recount" in the big seat right now instead of Dubya would be a nightmare. Scott Roberts

True, and true of every president we have ever had. But the pres is the one who makes the final call, its on his shoulders. Theres too many things under the political umbrella for one man to be an expert on, thats why there are advisors. Why are you trying to take credit away from him with this??
I'm just saying Junior is doing a good job Mike. Not saying he is doing a good job because he is a Republican and not a democrat or anything like that. He's nailing this whole situation perfectly whether his advisors had anything to do with it or not. He picked them, their HIS team. And he deserves props.sheepa latta peepah dabba looka foh a moopy

I'm being very careful not to politicize it, seen. All I'm saying is give credit where credit is due. The people picked to guide Bush are doing it very, very well. Can you think of a better SecState than Powell for a situation like this? I can't.
Yes, the buck stops with Bush. He'll be the one that ultimately gets the credit/criticism for what the people under him do. I'm in no way disagreeing with that.

Your also very carefull not to give him any credit to himself I see, solely the people under him. Well, I think that he personally, is doing great too. If you think he's just a puppet to the people under him being directed in every direction and breath he takes, thats fine, just say so. It's cool. But say it outloud so I know where your coming from instead of cutting him sideways by saying
quote:
and
The people picked to guide Bush are doing it very, very wellquote:
....your saying he's not doing a flippin thing and everybody else is doing all the work. I'm saying they are doing their jobs by presenting scenerios to the president of the united states, and he is doing his by making the decisions based on the scenerios provided. And obviously, he even planned for the job well a long time ago by placing these people around him. Thats his responsibility as well. Like I said, good job all around by him.
He'll be the one that ultimately gets the credit/criticism for what the people under him do
You will say anything, it seems, to NOT give any credit to Bush. I think its obvious that some credit is due to both his staff as well as him. You just seem to be willing to give it to his staff which makes me have to really wonder aboutquote:
because it seems obvious to me, he's done very well.....blah blah blah.

You're applying your views of how I think to what I say, and I don't appreciate it much. There's no need to try and back me into some corner.
I've been nothing but complimentary towards Bush. I'm not about to declare him the next Lincoln or FDR, but he and his people are handling this well so far.
If I don't have as much foaming-at-the-mouth enthusiasm as some, you'll have to forgive me. From a leadership point of view what has gone on so far is the easy part. Doing what needs to be done long-term is going to take an amazing amount of political will. We'll see how it goes.
