Over the course of the giveaway... there were over 65000 entries from across the globe... odds of one us few vocal knotheads on any of the boards winning were pretty slim...

Regarding your statement about not visiting www.van-halen.com you really won't be missed...

January 2003 the site had 13,635,850 hits and 164,920 unique visitors which
is about the average on both counts every month.

Listmembers across the board are a minor fraction of the dedicated VH fans

I'd say the stats are pretty clear... as much as many a message/list board member may want to value thier vocal position as a Van Halen fan... the fact is all of us are an insignificant fraction in the overall global fanbase. [img]graemlins/thumb.gif[/img]

With the stats you posted it will be interesting to see if the monthly average of hits declines since the contest is over. Wonder if Brad's stats show most hits around the first week of each month when people would log on to see who won and then enter the next months giveaway.

It's not like they post anything new on the site!!!

Most fans that go to the site just to browse are just that. They only care about an album when there is one. They might or might now buy a new CD from VH. The fans that actually partisipate in forums and the such, are the real die hard fans who really care. We are the ones that WILL buy the new CD no matter what.

What sucks about the giveaway, is that some of the people who won the guitars don't even play!!!
One guy put his up for auction on eBay not long after he got it. Kind of shitty for the guitar players who entered and won nothing.

I for one did NOT win any of the guitars. As for the official site, I barely visited it when the contest was running. I'd be shocked if we ever see anything new on it this year.

I bet that guy only entered with the intention of seeling it if he won!It also sucks that one of the winners was listed as a doctor. It's not like this guy couldn't jack up the money to buy one of those marvels on his own.It would have been cool for at least one of the fellow Van Halen forumers to have got their hands on one.

BTW, who tracks hits when it comes to measuring web site traffic? We had over 14,000,000 hits and 130,000 unique visitors in January too, big deal. It's page views that matter, not freaking hits.

Find out what the official site's page views are, that might be interesting, find out many people actually look at anything other than the home page.
